Title: Pressing forward
Post by: mowdan6 on June 30, 2011, 09:41:56 AM
In living as a trans person, I think alot of us get depressed in thinking about people we have lost, maybe opportunities gone, etc.  I was dealing with this thinking today.  Getting caught up in the past....old messages, etc.  Then, out of the blue, (my Holy Spirit intervention), I was reminded of a Bible verse that I have'nt read for years.  Thought I'd share it.  It's Philippians 3:13, which says, "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead."

Although the past is good to remember, There is no future found in living in the past.

I think sometimes our own mind can be our worst enemy if we dwell on the past. Bad choices and things done in ignorance can destroy us if we let it.

I personally believe that when Paul said he pressed toward the mark of the high calling in Christ he was saying that it is more important to seek Christ and salvation than worry about this life and it's mistakes, failures and such. That is, within reason.

For what it is worth, I have some deep regrets I was dwelling on this morning and needed to see this.
Thank you for posting it.
