Title: Yo! ;)
Post by: Cristóbal on July 01, 2011, 01:44:01 PM
Hello everyone!
Online I'm known as James. I'm Hispanic and currently living in Texas, though I have future hopes in the UK. I'm younger, a junior in highschool and I'm ftm. I plan to transition when I can financially support myself v__v So as of right now I'm just trying to physically appear as male as possible (binding, packing,etc.). Although my voice is still very high I'm working on talking with my "throat" to have a low voice.

UMUM! I would like to meet some people from the UK, though talking to anyone is great! ;) I'm open to anyone if you have questions or if you just wanna be friends.

Thank you  ;D
                       -James

Hi James, and welcome to the forum from a Brit :). I hope you make it over here, it's a crowded little island but some of it's very pretty!

Nah, I don't mind - although it gets a little complicated XD I was born in Brighton, then moved up with my family to a semi-rural county in the Midlands called Lincolnshire. I left them there to come up to Leeds in Yorkshire to study (which didn't work out, but that's another story), which is much nicer - not to mention more LGBT-friendly ^_^

Hey Nemo, as someone who went to college in Newark, I can vouch for the fact that Lincolnshire doesn't have much going for it - well escaped!

James, what part of the UK are you interested in moving to? (I'm in Devon in the south west, it's green here!)

's okay, no-one had pointed you to the rules and regs yet, I was just doing my guard dog job, protecting our youth :).

Take a look at the Announcements board when you have a moment, for info on the site rules and stuff like that.

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,2.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,2.0.html)

As for where to live in the UK, it depends what you like - city? rural? colder? warmer? What are your interests? There are some places I'd definitely recommend staying away from as they're pretty everything-phobic, but most of the UK is not too bad.

Ah thank you XD I'll check it out.

I think I'd be used to a  warmer climate but I'd like to adjust to cold. Yes Please tell me what places to avoid Dx

Lincolnshire for one, as Padma pointed out XP Not a good place for me to start questioning things like sexuality, good job I waited 'til I got to Leeds before the whole trans thing came out! Pretty much anywhere that's more countryside really, since it also comes with a more backward mentality. There are quieter areas that aren't too bad if that's what you like, but I'm more of a city boy ^_^

Hey Padma, how's Devon in that respect? I've heard it's really nice down there, but does that extend to the people?

I've spent around a fifth of my life in the south west, on and off (most of that in Somerset) - and I just returned here again from Norwich because I find I get on better with people down here than anywhere else in the country.

Supportive evidence of this: I've been here around 7 weeks, and in each one of these weeks, I made more new friends than I made in the entire year I was in Norwich! People down here are chilled out and friendly, especially outside of the biggest cities. I think if you go anywhere really rural in the UK, you'll encounter more dug-in prejudice against "the outsiders" of whatever kind, but there are parts of rural England that are much more accepting of strangers and of diversity, and Devon is definitely one of them.

I'm living on the back of a pub in a small seaside town, and so far, everyone's been really nice and friendly, in spite of dungarees and wacky earrings and sometimes very orange hair - of course, I haven't started sprouting boobs yet, so we'll see how they cope when I start to change shape more :).

No problem with your avatar that I can see, unless it's a copyright image - but this place seems rife with manga-stylie pretty avatars, so knock yerself out :).
