Just been video chatting to Virginia Marie, she has had three nasty bites from recluse spiders. They don't look good.
Lets all wish her a get well soon :icon_hug: :icon_hug: :icon_hug: :icon_hug: :icon_hug:.
Cindy

Karen.
Hope you feel better soon! Hugs, Tracey Yuck, spiders! <running away>
Eeeks! If you've been bitten by one (or more), go to the ER, even if you don't have insurance! Gangrene can set in within 48 hrs! Have experience with this! Please don't wait! The Brown Recluse is also known as a "Fiddleback" spider because the markings on the "bulb" resemble a "Fiddle"! Please take care! The largest infestation I have ever seen of them was at, of all places, a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT! No joke! They were outside of the buildings everywhere! They couldn't survive inside the actual reactor buildings due to the pressure and temperature difference. No, they didn't glow in the dark either... Get well soon!
I still have the scar where I was bitten by a brown recluse. Take care of it.
Thank you dear friends :) Hugs to all of you
I do have three bites on my left hip :-\ I don't feel very well at all... I've been putting bite cream on them and that didn't do much yesterday but seems to be helping today for now... But I probably will have to go in and get antibiotics... I'm sure some of you remember how pleasant the shot for that is ::) Can't sit down a few days
Not a very good pic. sorry

I'm sure I'll be okay

Really do need to get it treated.
Their venom breaks down the tissue, and the bacteria on their fangs from the bugs they eat, have a perfect incubator.
Karen.
Those look painful. The last plumbing job I did for my parents I got a nasty bite on the inside of my right knee. It swelled up and the whelp was about the size of a silver dollar then left a hole the size of a nickel and stayed black for months afterwards. Years later I still have a scar there. I didn't go to the doctor but I probably should have. I just kept it covered in anti biotic creame under a large bandaid.

:-\
I hope you get better soon, hon. *hug* One bite sounds bad enough but three... maybe you should go to the hospital.
Ouch! Please go to a Doctor, Clinic or something... Grouped that close, is nuthin to mess with! Have experience with this, am an ER Nurse, see this from time to time. And on yer bottom at that...
Went to the Dr. He thinks shingles ??? Which doesn't make me any happier :P He also said that if it is spider bites that he can't do much unless they start to get infected
So he gave me scripts for shingles and said to keep applying the bite cream and to check back in a few days if it doesn't improve :P
If it isn't one thing it's another :( Feel like crying and wish there was someone to hold me awhile
HUGS!! I could do better if I were closer. Those don't look like shingles to me-those look like spider/Brown recluse bites-I've had a few. I have never felt physically sick from them but they do hurt a bit and can get infected easily especially if you scratch them when they itch.
Those don't look like shingles to me-those look like spider/Brown recluse bites-
My neighbor lady friend said the same thing
*Feeling very frustrated and worried* :-\
Is there a local Hospital ED you can visit perhaps? They would probably be more able to diagnose, due to seeing more of both shingles and bites. Any changes over time?
Karen.
Hugs! But Shingles? I take it you saw the spiders or know they are in the House? Shingles? They usually occur around the back and chest, and if you ever had Chickenpox. Hmmm.......
Virginia, I hope you're feeling better, as an incentive, I want you to visualise a newspaper with the following headline: "FEMALE CLINT EASTWOOD KO'D BY THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER!" Now heal girl, heal! Hugs, Tracey
Kia Ora VM,
::) Under a magnifying glass one should be able to see if there are "two" tiny puncture marks /hole close together...
Remember spiders have "fangs" and spider "bites" will leave the tale tale signs of "two" puncture marks on the skin...
When it comes to spider bites and insect bites and stings, I used to do a lot of identification/detective work...
Regardless of what your first doctor has said... Get a second opinion...
Metta Zenda :)
Thank You all for your kindness and support :)
Good news :) The bites seem to be dissipating
Hugs

Good! If you only got a little of the venom they will go away in just a few days. I hope they didn't cost you too much at the dr. office.
Luv ya,
Randi
Sounds good! Have your Dr. contact the "poison control center" nearest him. They might have info on the insect bites, treatments and reactions. Mine is the Rocky Mountain Poison Control and Drug Center. This was the go to place on poisonings, drug interactions, animal and insect interactions nationally for quite some time. Their info on the brown recluse spider, as well as other venom bites has save lives in the past and was chronicled in the local press. I don't know if this center will respond to international calls though.

Then again...if the antiviral cream is working and the sites are crusting Shingles it is. Keep the cream handy for any future eruptions, and dust away the cobwebs. Glad yer feeling better!
anti viral cream? wish doc here would have heard of such a thing.
I hope you are doing better Virginia.
The cream is not an antiviral cream, it is the same cream I've used for bites for a few years... There is no crusting, the bites are dissipating as in fading away... The med.s for shingles are pills which did nothing other than make me sick as a dog, dizzy, throwing up and want to sleep all the time :P
Whatever, Brown Recluse Spider Bites, Shingles, Valtrex, sounds confusing...
To LordKat...yes there is such a thing as antiviral cream/ointment, Zovirax (Acyclovir), better than taking pills that make one sick.
VM...what is the bite cream you are using? Neomycin, Bactracin?
VM...what is the bite cream you are using? Neomycin, Bactracin?
Betamethasone Dipropionate... It is a prescription cream I got for bites a few years ago... I get a refill at least once a year
Thanks, and may you have a speedy recovery!
Thank you all again :)
*Update*
The bites are barely visible and all but gone now :)
