Title: HRT and laser question
Post by: Kiss on July 10, 2011, 07:19:42 AM
Hello

I'm new here and I have a question about laser hair removal.  I have been on androcur and sandrena for about 7-8 months now and I would like to go back to getting my facial hair lasered.  However the clinic is concerned about burning me due to the meds. The Oestrogen has caused a small amount of pigmentation on my face already.  Can I continue to get laser or should I go down another path - I'm sure I'm not the first person to take oestrogen and get lasered...

I had posted this Q earlier but probably in the wrong area.

Thanks heaps

no i would disagree to that, is more down to you own operator and skin type

if oestrogen was the issue then you would have to say women are not good candidates on laser purely on their hormone makeup

hyper pigmentation is common with laser, it is one of the many reasons it will never surpass electrolysis in its current state.

Agree with "." (bit wonky that name, why not call it Pünktchen? :-)

I had issue with hyper-pigmentation, it takes ages to get rid of, burn marks, even blisters. I have very fair skin but also very light hair.
So I will agree that for me electrolysis is the way to go.

I've been on HRT for about a year and have been getting laser to both my face and the rest of my body with zero issues. As long as the laser tech knows what they are doing (well trained and has experience), you should never get burned or have hyper-pigmentation... despite any sort of meds (HRT or otherwise) you maybe taking.

I used to have a full beard, really full. I have had 4 laser, two on hrt. After HRT the changes were more noticeable, but the laser was much more painful.

Anyway, the hair is still falling off from last laser but I believe that now all that will be left are the upper lip and chin areas and even so, they don't have 50% of the hair they used to. I don't want to dig for a before pic but you can see on my avvie I'm fairly facial hairless.

So, it depends on your skin and hair color. I have very white skin and very dark hair, so it is a good match.
