Hello Everyone :) :) :) :D
So I was just wondering, when you started buying new clothes were did you start? It's so overwhelming looking at everything. What websites did you use? What did you buy first? And what would you recommend? Also I'm kind of top heavy if that makes any difference to what you would suggest I buy? Also I'm still pretty young 18, so I'm sure that may make a difference.
Sorry for kind of the weridish question, but.... its kind of overwhelming when looking at websites for the first time when your actually considering buying them. :)
Thanks all :)
Hi Brittany :)
I started with buying underwear and worked my way out :D I used (and still do) online stores and have used Sears and Victoria Secret multiple times, but have had pleasant experiences with a few other stores that I can't remember at the moment. My best advice is to pay attention to the "size chart" that almost all websites provide and then measure yourself to make sure the numbers fit, especially when shopping for bra's ;) If you prefer the in person method then simply try everything on and perhaps even ask for a bra fitting?
Hope that helped!
Hi
I know this might sound silly and not very sympathetic, I don't mean it that way. Just do it.
I was in boy clothes on the weekend and saw some awesome cowl dress tops, nice with black leggings. i just waved to an assistant, and pointed to the change room. She came over as I was changing, how is it for size. I think it is too tight, it is a medium, these are tiny sizes she replied. An extra large came over the cubicle door. Let me see. ->-bleeped-<- in for a dollar. She just looks an says with black leggings that will look great. What shoes are you going with?
Place was packed.

I like what you said Cindy. I find a lot of people invest a lot of themselves in what other people think, people they don't even know. Just remember how mean you'll get to be back to them all when they're all tripping over how hot you are. There are people who will help, learning by trial and error isn't ever going to be as good as getting time earned advice.
As for where did I start? Macy's until I got sticker shock over a $50 pair of jeans. After that I've found a fair bit of luck through Good Will and other charity shops. Just stay clear of Salvation Army, they are a rather anti-LGBT organization.
Hi Whitney
One of the stranger encounters I have had in a shop was a month or so ago. I saw a great top and leggings, 'do you have this in medium" I was in boy clothes. She replied, I think the small will fit you try it on.
I was in the change room, try these leggings they are nicer. They were.
Next week I went to a shop next door too look at some ear rings. Hi Cindy was my greeting. Ahmm
What is going on

I've always been a shopper.. and I had a 'secret wardrobe' from the age of 12 until I ditched the man clothes last year.. Buying the clothes, shoes etc isn't really the problem.. it's working out what looks good on you. But as has been mentioned, start on the inside and work out..

And I think you have the same 'problem' I do in a few specific places - they know who you are.. I can go get my brows waxed right after work in guy clothes, and all the girls in the place I go to say 'Hi Kelly'..

I love it!!! Unfortunately, that really would not be a option to do somthing like that. Hopfully soon, but not right now.
Thanks everyone for the help so far. :)
Does anybody know any Australian sites that sell cheep clothes?
Cindy says,
Why not?
First time is hell, no one notices, second time is hell and no one notices, then you give in.
I've got this great skirt, and want a blouse. I reckon a dark blouse. Lets see the skirt. Oooh gorgeous, I reckon a ruffled sleeve, get changed and let me see. Ahh normality?

I also buy clothes at online auctions (like eBay and similar)
Today sale time is also great, but it take a time until I get enough confidence to go to shop and buy something, I had even problem walk into shop, but now as I'm questioned if I'm girl or boy ;D I'm fine. Finally
It seems so unfair that there seem to be as many women looking in the mens section and no one thinks a thing, even if she is buying men's underwear. It wouldn't even occur to anyone that she wasn't shopping for her husband. Kinda funny becasue my wife KNOWS better than to try and buy me ANY clothing unless I have specifically pointed something out and said , "I want that." I'm way too picky but I have bought or helped pick out her favorite stuff! lol
Well, lots of my clothes come from friends and some from my wife, but online is my preferred shopping method to be honest. I do like the fitting room and everything but, I am a bit self conscious and I just can't get alot of the more goth type clothes I like without going online, even the local Hot Topic barely carries the stuff I like in their store and if they do they don't have it in my size, though online they do.
However, clothes need not be new, I am a fan of Goodwill and the Goodwill Outlet store (where the clerks don't even look at what you are buying, they weigh them). There are some cool vintage clothes, and if you want to alter them or whatever, and you make a mistake it is no big issue, since they were dirt cheap anyway.
The biggest thing I can say, is "there is nothing to it but to do it" Whatever experience you want the most important thing is letting go of your inhibitions and just going for it.
Personally, I want even more selection than I can get online or in the store, so I am hunting for a nice cheap used sewing machine in reasonable shape, I haven't had one in a few years, and sewing a pattern by hand is an exercise in frustration. And I can be sure my clothes fit then.
