I had my consultation with DR. McGuinn yesterday. I must say she's pretty awesome. Surgery is likely going to be April 16th but I haven't made that a firm date yet. That is all.
:D good to be a spring bird :D

Sorry, that was hemispherist of me :)
Anyways hehe great to hear hope it goes well
Congrats and good luck! :D
Thanks! And holy crap there's a lot of work involved with it. Like way more work than just tucking every day but it will be so worth it.
Good thing you're motivated :) - have a great journey!
Dilating just becomes a part of life's routines.
Which reminds me... I really need a manicure.
Congrats!!!
Robyn
I'll have to dilate like a champ: 5x per day. Oh yeah and I need to get several electro clearings beforehand. I'm pretty darn excited if you couldn't tell already.

Ah, yes... Ground Zero.
I remember lying on the table of an FTM electrologist in Seattle who specialized in presurgical electrolysis. MY husband walked into the room and proudly showed us the new tattoo he had just gotten."
I said it was very nice, but.."I couldn't mutilate myself like that."
He looked at the electrologist; they both looked at me spreadeagled on the table; and we all burst out laughing.
I had my SRS about 2 months later.
Still dilating twice a week after 11+ years.
Robyn
Congrats Maddie :) That's great

Unless McGinn has changed her preference, she has always liked to operate on patients with genital electrolysis having been done. I'm not aware of whether or not she would scrape an un-electro'd patient, but I know she recommends electrolysis, and prefers its being done.
On that note, yaaaaay Maddie ;D I'm very happy for you. Really! It looks like my SRS is set for winter 2012...
Perhaps I will get my SRS on the day the world ends. That would be pretty sweet.
Jolly good show Maddie, at LOTS of the best of luck with it all!
Now look what I just got in my Sunday afternoon email!

Dear Axelle
I am pleased to move your SRS date to 20 Sept. 2011.

Feel with you and I'm sort of rattled,
Axelle
That is wonderful Maddie, I wish you all the best in your personal journey!
Awesome Maddie! McGinn is a great surgeon and I am sure you will be very happy. Two months after me too. I will be thinking about you.

She said it's my choice whether I get electro. However she showed me the results of someone who decided not to get electro and well, the situation was a little hairy...
So I'm going to book a few electro sessions and clear out as much hair as I can. All surgeons scrape the folicles, but it's not a guarantee that she'll get them all. I'd rather have one of those Chinese hairless cats than a Persian long hair so electro it is. And besides, I figure there's a reason Bowers requires it and McGinn highly recommend it seeing as they've both been through the surgery themselves.
just popping in because i saw dr mcginn's name. i guess you could say i'm one of her biggest fans :) haha. she is VERY pretty. and i just had successful top surgery with her on friday. she cracks me up so much. took pictures on her iphone of my open chest during surgery.
She is awesome. I hope she had an assistant take pictures on the i-phone. Sterilizing a mobile device would probably wreck it.
Maddie, you look great & I know you so look forward to next spring. I know you will be so glad to have all those little things removed & to become a beautiful woman.
I'm considering a little orcie first just to move forward some & within a year or so the final SRS.
You take care of yourself & my best to you. Enjoy each day at a time.

Can't stop giggling at this magnificent word. :D
Many congratulations, Maddie! I wish you all the courage in the world in the leadup to the operation, all the good health in the world during your recovery, and all the happiness in the world for everything that lies ahead!
Thanks everyone! It's been a long time coming. I remember showing up here over three years ago pre-everything. I used to be so jealous of the girls who'd say, "I've not done anything yet but I know who I am," and then like three months later have their surgery scheduled for exactly one year after going full time. But now there's no need to be jealous.
I'm actually more nervous about the surgical prep than I am about the surgery itself. Of all the stuff that has to get done before Dr. McGinn does the ol' trim 'n tuck, bowel prep gives me the most apprehension. That's going to be unpleasant.
Congrats Maddie!
