Title: Has the HEAT affected you?
Post by: Julie Marie on July 21, 2011, 07:32:26 AM
It was 99 here yesterday and supposed to be 96 today.  Chicago summer weather also includes high humidity.  The "feels like" temp yesterday was something like 115.  Today it's supposed to be a balmy 110.

I was working on the hot tub yesterday.  I finished late.  Then I took a cold shower.  After the water hit my head it heated up to lukewarm.  Nice.  Then for the next few hours I must have drank over 1/2 gallon of water - with no need to go to the bathroom.  Can you say dehydrated?

It is supposed to hit over 100 here today with 87% humidity! It is truly insane.

Here is like 50 (10*C) and raining, it should be same whole next week.
But I hate when is more than 80 and sunshine
Just problem with rain is I not buy any summer shoes jet, so I have just sandals and winter boots

Lovely!  Remind me not to visit Chicago in summer.  :P
I can't take the humidity, and have decided I am over the 100+ summer temps here too.  I'm moving closer to the Antarctic (Tasmania).
It is around 55 maximum here at the moment and very windy.  No rain here inland, but the whole East Coast is copping torrential downpours.

yeah, its been close to 90 the last couple days, and thats super hot for northern Vermont.  Its bad when you step out side and can almost feel the air.

I dont bind when it's this hot.  not worth it.

Not really...it's been hot, no denying that, but after 40ish years in Texas, one gets used to it.  It was 106-107 when I was visiting clients a little north of Austin last week and it was similar when I had to go to a Dallas-area county a few days later.  Houston has only been in the low 100's but with the humidity and no breeze to speak of, although it did drop with the rain the other day.  I saw low 80's coming back through Bryan/College Station on Monday.

I've escaped it for a few days though...had to hit the Left Coast for a week for no other reason than I felt like taking time out of the office...

a couple days ago it think the temperature got over 80. anything that's over 80 is seriously hot in north norway. gave me a bad headache, drinking lots of water doesn't help me, just seeing the reflection of the sun on a lighter than pitch black wall makes my eyes hurt and the headache comes soon after

Here in Oregon it is only going to 70o.  It has been very cool here so far.  And it is all due to the High that is sitting over the mid-west, which is causing Julie's HOT weather.

I work in a factory so it's brutal being unable to wear shorts, but at least it's overnights.

At 5:30AM today it was 34C... I didn't even think that was possible.  It's supposed to go up to 50C. I know I am just in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, but regardless, that is really hot.

SOMEHOW this summer I have been living without air conditioning, due to my crappy small windows, but luckily this morning right when Walmart opened I managed to get the last portable air conditioning unit. For nearly $450. But worth it not to melt.

It's in the 90s inland here, normal weather for this time of year.  But it gets down to the mid-50s at night.  So I go out to the pool and bask and swim in the day time and use the hot tub in the early morning and evening.

The weather here in Minnesota has finally started to break. It's been horrible with no air conditioning, upper 90s in temp and lower 90s in humidity. But right now it's 80F (26C) and 42%. Heavenly!

yeah, its effecting me. Not the heat so much but the utility company said that the energy consumption has been so high this summer already that they will be charging 30% higher rate this year then the same time last year.

I dint have an air conditioner. In order for me to afford my electric bill this next cycle I've had to shut off all electric appliances that are not "mandatory". My fridge has been empty, unplugged and open for 4 days now. I haven't been running any fans the last two days. If it wasn't for being able to plug in at work my laptop would have been dead a few days ago.

It sucks. It's stupid that just because everyone else runs out to buy an airconditioner (about $100 with another $40 a month in additional electric usage) I have to use %30 less energy not to see my bill go up.

Oh the economy is in rough shape they say on the news... BS! People can afford to run their AC or go out and buy one if they dint have one means they have money to spend.

ugh. I'm hot and cranky... /end rage.

I too live in the Chicago area. No air in the Car (too expensive to fix) with leather seat, even with the windows open it's HOT. I drive 24 miles to work, early morning isn't too bad but coming home after the car sits in the sun all day it's really hot. As sooN as I get home it's a cool shower, shorts and sandals !

The temperature here will be between 66-68 degrees fahrenheit, the skies will be slate gray and there will be the rain.

Joke:  How can you tell when it's Summer in Scotland?

answer: the rain is a little warmer.

So true.

Julie knows that I will put up with the heat, rather than the Chicago cold in January. I've got pics on my cell phone of our car dashboard which show '0 Fahrenheit'  and up to '102'. That folks, is what it means to live here.

I'm sure that Minnesota is not picnic, either.

I'm so ready for San Diego or somewhere like it.

Cat, when are we invited over to use the pool?  ;)

Today was 48 C with the humid ex ... so like, 118 F. My apartment alone was 38C when I checked the temp. I had to walk home from work today, and I'm pretty sure my face has never been so soaking wet without being submerged in water. It was like someone was pouring a bucket of water on my head >.<

But I think since going to Toronto Pride my ability to withstand the heat has increased dramatically. I used to buckle in the heat and become incredibly delirious, and now I'm fine, other than sweat and physical fatigue...

it was 98 degrees and with humidity, felt like 104 here in Indiana today. And that was nothing compared to the combined heat inside the plant where I work and being inside them doing my job as a Plastic Molding Specialist. I think just inside the plant it was at the very least 115 degrees. And you could probably double that when you are standing in between two big blocks of metal that are also heated internally.

Needless to say I was HOT!! If Satan walked in, he would have stopped at the door and said "Oh no! that's just too hot. What are you people crazy?"

Today it was hard to tell it is the middle of winter.  15-16 degrees, blue skies, calm.  :)
Of course at the other end of the state they are stacking sandbags because of floods! >:( Got to love Australia's weather! ::)

Today: 90° with 40% chance of thunderstorms.  I'm going to go out and play in the lightning.

"The Midwest and Plains states have been the focus of this latest heat wave during the past several days but the hot dome is making its way to the East Coast."

Now our east coast friends will be getting the brunt of it.

It was 97 here yesterday. Suppose to hit 100 today and 97 tomorrow. Heat index was 109 yesterday. I have drank a lot of water and decaffeinated ice tea. Can't remember the last time New York City had 100 degree days two Julys in a row.                                                                                                                         Gennee

It is most definitely tornado weather. Stevens Point got hit badly with the last storm. I'm sure some places are worse but my son got asked to pick up brush for the next 3 weeks, for not bad wages too.
