Title: Body piercings and HRT
Post by: Raya on July 21, 2011, 11:48:51 PM
I've been doing a ton of research on transition. There's lots of information on how your body changes with HRT, but I haven't come across anything that mentions how body piercings affect/are affected by it. Especially on body parts you expect to start growing...

This worries me, because I had both my nipples pierced about four years ago. Proud Raya likes to think she can handle the growing pains, but I'm wondering about other issues. I'm wondering if it might be smarter for me to remove them before I start. I really like them, but worse comes to worst, I can always pierce them again later.

So I thought I'd ask: Did any of you have your nipples (or other parts) pierced pre-transition? If so, did anything "encourage" you to remove them while you were taking HRT?

MtF? should not matter.  I think there was a post saying a person got enhanced experience from her nipple piercings.

FtM? depends if you are having top surgery, I'd ask your surgeon.

I think in general most medics frown on GG have nipple piercings since it can interfere with lactation. But idf that isn't an issue it should not matter.
