Title: Stem cell breast implants!

Customized Cleavage: Growing breast implants from stem cells.

Scientists are growing customized breast implants from stem cells. Recipe: Extract stem cells from your fat, mix them with regular fat cells, grow them into fatty tissue, and inject it into your breasts. It's been tried on nearly 40 women so far with no serious ill effects. Rationales: 1) These implants are natural; they're really yours. 2) They won't leak, as old silicone implants do. 3) They won't shrink if we can grow them with built-in blood vessels, thanks to the stem cells. Caveats: 1) We don't know yet how they'll hold up over the long term. 2) So far, we can only grow them to half the size of a synthetic implant. Bri's comment - Yet another reason the right wing assault on science is bad for transsexual health care.

Wow, the Slate is taking three year old new items and making them seem like new!

This was done in Japan and they did try it out on someone.  Do a web search for updates since then.

It could have significant meaning for women who have had breast cancer as well.

/me just smiles at Cindy.

Well. That's important. The number of women that don't undergo reconstruction is surprising. It's almost 1/2 if I remember correctly.

Cindi smiles back.

I did not know that.  Reconstruction would be an aweful thing to face at best.  I certainly understand why they don't don't do it.

I won't be fully content until they can grow wings.

Not a bad idea at all, perhaps an angel or a bat would like to donate their cells ;)

...or a fairy? :P

George Carlin used to do a satirical 'prayer', which he finished with 'something for the benefit of everybody':  "And please, God, if at all possible, make everybody's sexual organs larger than they already are."

Is stem cell implants possibly an answer to that prayer?

Karen, that's it!  The next step beyond Viagra... All you have to do is get this idea out on the ethersphere and let it run rampant.  You bet your bippie, we'll have stem cell research up and running in months!
