Yesterday afternoon, my neighbor called me to tell me that he thought he had hit the real Cindanna Jones (my dog) with his car. While he was on the phone, I heard the dogs at the front door. I opened it and they both came in wagging their tails. I told him that she looked fine.
At 5:10 PM, I noticed that Cindianna was extremely lethargic. I went to move her to her bed and got my hand covered in blood. The skin on the soft side of her belly was ripped wide open, and not being a straight cut, a large flap of skin was hanging loose from her body. I could see everything inside of her.
I was sickened. I could not get a hold of our veterinarian. I tried to make her comfortable. She would eat or drink nothing. I made her a bed on the kitchen floor... just in case she had to go or had more bleeding. Yea... gross in the kitchen but there is no carpet there and it would be easier to clean up. I managed to contact a vet in a nearby town and she had me check several things. She asked me to bring her in first thing this morning.
So there she is... having surgery and I'm going crazy. I think she is going to be okay. But I don't know what I'd do if she died. I really don't. She is my baby... and the only child I have who accepts me wholly for who I am. Oh... deep breath...
Cindi
I'm sorry to hear it, Cindi. On top of all else you're going through, you have a sick baby.

Prayer For Our Animal Friends
Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is a wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of yours.
They have trust in us as we have trust in You; We are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.
( Here mention the names of the animals needing prayer )
Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our petitions through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures.
St. Francis of Assisi
Keeping both Cindis in my thoughts. I hope that all turns out okay.
Huggles.
(((((Cindi)))))
Best wishes for your doggie!
One of the times my mother's cat Cleo had kittens, mom found one of them had a big rip in his belly so she took the kitten to get stitched up. The poor thing wasn't bleeding though, and he healed quickly and was back to his feisty usual self. I hope the outcome is just as good this time!
Thanks everyone. Emotionally, this has been a tough week or so. This was really hard for me.
She's now home with me, lying at my feet. She seems so lifeless. She had been given some morphine but I can see that has worn off. The doctor said that her prognosis is excellent. And that makes me happy.... but to see her lying there, breaks my heart.
Now that I can see the wound all stiched up, even though it is ugly, I can at least see that she has been put back together. My poor baby. It is amazing how much joy a companion can bring into your life. There can be sorrow.... but it is of the loving kind. I'm thankful that she is still with me.
Cindi
A big :icon_hug: from me.
Things will work out Cindi.
Alice

Hi Cindi:
Kids (and our pets) have a way to bring us to our knees (I've said that to you before). When our Callie (the calico cat) didn't come home one morning we were frantic. We were living in the country and all manner of horrible thoughts were going through our heads. When we did find her, one leg was horribly mangled and had to be amputated. Though we were so upset and worried the vet assured us that all would be okay. And she was right. Callie now has a knick name of tri-pod, and she still rules the roost. She's a bossy thing and always gets her own way.
We're so glad that your neighbour let you know what had happened and that Cindi is now home with you recovering. Yup she is probably all groggy from the surgery and it will take awhile to be her old self again. Mother her like we know only you can.
Hugs to you and Cindi.
Gill and Steph.
Oh, Cindi!
I'm glad things seem to be OK now. I'm such an absolute idiot for animals, especially my puppies. So I can just imagine what you were going through.
Glad for the good report. Give her a bowl of Science Diet and a Milk Bone from us! She'll be(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.diegotorres.com.ar%2Fmensajeitor%2Fforo%2Fcaritas%2Fcid12.gif&hash=422d176e8522e61a874f5909c90444f41d1ce391) in no time at all.
Tink took the best prayer, so I thought I would send this one along:
"Lord, help me to be the person my dog thinks I am."

Cindi, my heart goes out to you. OMG, I can't imagine that, I would be in pieces. I'm hoping everything will be ok for your little one. I will pray for her. They are not just pets, they are family. Been there done that and I still cry when I think of a loved one dying.
Sheila

Oh Cindi. I'm so sorry that that happened. I didn't se this thread until now. I am glad that she is doing ok and I think after she heals enough, she will be back to her old level of activity.
Melissa
ow cindy... How is your little baby getting on. I know if the same happened to me I would be going mad. Hope your ok. were here for you..
Glad she's going to be ok :)
Dennis
I'm so sorry to hear about your doggie Cindi....
I'm glad that she's doing better....as for feeling bad because she looks so lethargic on morphine keep in mind that she's high as a kite and probably feeling REALLY good even though she doesn't show it :)
Get well soon little Cindi :)
P.S. the title of your thread scared the heck out of me. I'm a worrier, it's my nature.

Awlll, HUGS Cindi. She'll get better, but it takes awhile to get the energy back. She's been through a lot, she's exhausted, healing and drugged. Morphine take awhile... she's gonna be tired for awhile. "her prognosis is excellent" is GREAT to hear.
Kate
Cindi, I've only been back on here a few days but I can tell that you are a wonderful and loving person. I'm sure she knows how much you care for her and that will help pull her through. Think positive thoughts for her and I will certainly say a prayer for her.
BIG HUG,
Bev
You mean there's two Cindiannas? We're so sad to read of this trouble. Sorry to be behind in catching up in my postings. (Well, that was an interesting phrase.) Anyway, hopefully by now she is up and about.
Susan Kay and C
Hi Cindi,
I'm very sorry to hear about your dog. :( I hope she is doing much better now. Its really amazing what vets can do to save animals lives today. My niece was a vet tech for several years before she became a registered nurse and she helped to save many animal's lives. I still miss my Border Collie Julie who was my best old buddy for the past 16 years and hope to get a new puppy soon. I had to have Julie put down last year because she was suffering too much from health problems. I will say a prayer for the both of you and wish your dog a speedy recovery. Hang in there! :)
Hugs,
Shannon
