The windows in my house need servicing. I checked the warranty and I have until December before it expires. The warranty also says something about transferring to someone else requirements, which I haven't done.
I had two choices when I called them, be the wife of the old me, or be the old me. My voice has been pretty raspy lately (allergies) and I just didn't feel like being treated like a dumb woman again. So out came the old voice and I used the old name too. No problem with the warranty. No problem with the service guy. They will be here the 23rd.
Should I be his wife or him then? >:-)
Haha!
Go completely andro and let the guy who shows up try to figure it out on his own. Life's no fun without occasionally confusing the heck out of people. :D
LOL
I had to be 'her' several times with the person who purchased my business, who I am NOT out to. I transitioned after I sold the business. She called me several times this spring, didn't seem to notice the voice change at all.
I've pretended to be 'her' husband at times, esp. telling (non-important) people that 'she' is no longer with us. I always want to add, "Because I killed her!"

It was weird. A couple of months ago I received a phone call ago. The caller asked for <male name>. Without thinking I simple stated that "He is no longer with us". "Pardon me?" asked the caller. "He is dead" I stated. "Oh I am sorry to have bothered you".
Afterward I got to think that I should have ask who they were. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmileys.on-my-web.com%2Frepository%2FAnimals%2Fferret-7.gif&hash=9f27f1603b9ef76a5d4bbeedcd1615f680c36e8b)
Julie, please keep us posted on how this story will go/end.
I had a few (2 or 3) occasions where I had to be "him" again, for document ID purposes and with a transfer of my ex's Telkom account.
The sad thing was, that at that stage of my transition it totally freaked me out, lucky enough AFTER the event. Big GID attack in all these old cloths, grrrr.
Now with that notary it was just as well I was in drab. It turned out he was a school buddy of my son's and had some recollections of me! I would not have recognised him but did recognise ME.
He did seem like being weirded out in any case, and I was quite happy to be done. Seems my "drab" act was not such a good one...
Eish,
Axelle
PS: I can not change my docs in SA, and neither in Germany before SRS, not even a name change!
