Title: Is there any REAL at home Electrolysis system???
Post by: Francis Ann Burgett on August 08, 2011, 02:12:52 AM
I live in a remote area, glad for that but must have electrolysis facial hair.

Are there any real devices of just fakes to waste our money??????

I doubt it. Electrolysis involves putting a needle into or very close to the hair follicle and passing an electric current. I doubt that you could do it yourself, especially on the face. The chances of severe injury would also be high. There are probably devices on the market but I suspect they are to going to rip you off.

I suspect it is also true for many hair depilatory treatments. I've seen reports on gloves that remove hair with a swish, self waxing, which can work, epilators, which do work but please be careful on the face. And all sorts of gels and creams.

If you use the gel and cream route be VERY careful on the face. Most contain sodium hydroxide. (NaOH) if you get that in your eye you will blind yourself before you can wash it out.

If you develop a good way to remove body hair you will pay for your GRS and all of ours as well
Hugs

I read something about electrolyzing tweezer, it should use hair which you hold with it as a conductor to follicle.

Saw that, rubbish. I got total feed back that it didn't work. Also you are trying to pass an electric current down a very bad conductor of electricity, hair. If it worked why would professional be using electrolysis?

Why is there more than one method of electrolysis ? ;)
I don't say it is good system, I just heard about it.

It's a nightmare that's for sure. I had laser removal very early in life, some areas of my face are very smooth & some are tough. ????? damn

I'd need a damn steadier hand than I have now, that's for sure.  And a perfect mirror and stereo magnifier.e

Electrolysis works by  the reaction of salt in sweat to the electric current, at the base of the hair.  It creates  a small pool of caustic around the follicle that actually produces the hair, destroying it.  :o  No follicle=no hair.

The tweezers don't actually get the electricity to the base of the hair, so can't do the job unfortunately. It shorts acros the saline sweat on the skin surface.   Pity, because laser doesn't get the white and grey ones that are all too evident nowadays! :(

Karen.

I bought a electolysis machine off ebay, a proffesional one, and taught myself how to use it after reading a book.  I went to a so called "proffesional" who fried my face initially, thank goodness theres no real obvious scarring.  I can do a better job on myself for free was my thinking.  Turned out I was right.  YMMV though.

Audrey, good for you. If you are all smooth maybe I can buy it, learn???? YMMV meaning?  Not up to speed on all these codes.

I like your dog. I have 2 great Pyrenees dogs, both female, they are cool. Animals are cool.

According to Hairfacts.com (http://www.hairfacts.com/), there is only one she recommends.  But she has recommended the TRIA laser.  And the site is run by one of our own, Andrea James.

Janet,

Thank you. I will look into it. I should have completed laser hair work when I started long ago, in my early 20's.

Dr. Oz had one on the show the other day.  I think it was about $1000.

The important thing is to electrolyze the fluids in the bottom of the follicle. That means you need a probe to stick down in there. I have one of those, but I've never used it because I don't have a magnifier powerful enough to be able to see what I'm doing. 5x and 6x don't cut it; it needs to be something like a 50x magnifier. Anybody know where to get one?

Self electrolysis is possible, know someone who's done it with a hot needle (always on), but it also helps if your a masochist who loves pain & suffering . . . but then again she didn't have the forrest-stumps like I originally had and would highly NOT recommend it to anybody!

Suggestion? (lol what we did!):

1) Find a friendly, very talkative & supportive electrologist (http://www.mecatlanta.com/)

2) Self-Medicate

then 3) Write expense off as "psychotherapy"!

;D  ;D  ;D

Another masochistic possibility
One my friend fell asleep at fire (not in fire, but at chair close to it) and when he wake up at morning, he was well-done  >:-) not have any scars or anything, just soft skin without any hairs  :D
So sleep with face near to fire (just cover parts where you want to have hairs) should help  ;D Few bottles of alcohol could be useful  ;)
