Hi,
I'm six months post on Monday.
I've been having very nice sex with my girlfriend who is very considerate (though no orgasms yet). She is very experienced with women and for the first couple of months had no complaints about oral sex with me. The last couple of weeks however she has complained about odor and taste. I've been douching
and washing but that doesn't seem to help.
She suggested I might have a bacterial infection or just a PH imbalance. I've gone into my doctor for a BV check (results due tomorrow) and I've asked my doctor about ways to help but they didn't have any ideas. My doctor says I'm mostly healed inside. I do lubricate naturally - my girlfriend likes this and actually used to like the taste.
Does anyone have ideas about how to combat this and get back to being sweet smelling and tasting?
thanks <and hope I haven't offended anyone!>

Ugh, there was this girl I experimented with. Her vag was the nastiest thing I ever smelled, I figured they were all like that.
My first guess be a change in body chemistry becoming more acidic.
It may be normal as a more acidic vaginal environment will protect the vagina from bacterial attacks.
My ex was joking with me saying it "tasted like battery acid" and couldn't understand why guys liked oral at all.
Not every girl goes quite that acidic but we all are different after all :-)
Hope it's nothing serious,
Axelle
hi Dori I too am 6 months post and when did have a little bit of a smell it was because I had a bit og granulation so I purchased this ----------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.waterworkshealth.com/home/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ww (http://www.waterworkshealth.com/home/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ww) ------------------------------
Also you are what you eat lots of FRUITS AND VEGGIES , and  Dont forget your yogurt and maybe some probiotics
Information about vaginal probiotics can be found here: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,68720.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,68720.0.html)

Basically excess douching can be bad, probiotics help give you a 'natural', healthy smelling vagina.
Dr. McGinn was very emphatic with me that I regularly eat Greek Yogurt and drink cranberry juice. She said that Greek Yogurt has the active bacteria in it to prevent a yeast infection. She said that cranberry juice is necessary for a healthy urinary tract.

not all of us would concur with the need for cranberry juice...and while I may not have an MD behind my name, I do have ~15 years of post-operative experience to speak from.

I kinda like the way mine smells.. it smells like pussy lol
I started eating Greek yogurt when I had a yeast infection a while back and it seemed to work well. That plus some stuff from the drugstore cleared it all up in about 3 days. The yeast infection was right after I started having regular sex, and I've heard that is a common problem whenever you get with a new partner. Anyway it hasn't come back. But yeast infections don't generally cause any odor, just itchy.
Mine was just occasional- I could tell most when I dilated, mainly because it was accompanied by a discharge on my dilators that didn't appear normal.
i no longer have any smell at all for a while there I had a bit of a funny smell but like i said it was due to the granulation tissue I had inside the vaginal cavity , but now that I have no more granulation tissue there is no odor :")))) and I have used the waerworks that I purchased but only a few times I havent used it in about a month or so
Have experience the smell of a colon-section vag...
Something that seems not so very popular, unless it's never being mentioned?
Inversion is one thing --- colon-section quite another.
The latter may need a good many month to normalize.

Cranberry juice is indeed very good for the waterworks, especially the bladder (antibacterial) but only if you go to the considerable trouble of sourcing some that hasn't got added sugar (bacteria's bff) - the sugar-free stuff may be pretty sour, but it isn't the host for a bacteria gameshow.
And not all Greek (or any other) yoghurt is probiotic - look for the stuff that says "probiotic" or "live yoghurt" on the container.
And I'm here to tell you: yeast infections can cause weird and unpleasant smells. They just don't always - it depends on the strain of yeast and how it reacts with the rest of your body chemistry. Diet and stress changes can change body odours like crazy.

is she wanting to go down on you less and less? You say she knows how to treat a woman but she hasn't been able to give you an orgasm. I was with a post op who had many people mostly men try to please her but they couldn't until i was with her. Its a special way to do it with any woman especially those who haven't ever had an orgasm. Going right down to fast and to quick can become iritating. The person needs to stay away from right down there and gently go around the area around it tenderly lightly licking with lips. The person receiving needs to just relax and feel like it won't happen and every so often the person giving will suprise the receiver with a slight lick or a slight miss and not the tongue and then go back around the area and then again sneak up on the spot and slightly again touch it with your lips or miss it again and keep doing that for maybe an hour if needed and by that time the receiver will be wanting the person on the spot and well by hitting and missing and going around and hitting and missing and going around and distracting from that location that location will become quite ready to be licked and well i never ever had a problem making it happen for a woman. I mention this because some women have it easy and others its a long road to there and well your GF may be getting tired of trying and saying its the smells because she really doesn't have the patience to do it right.. just a thought .. i hope it helps..

Not denying its use and benefit in some situations...but to claim it is NECESSARY is simply not an accurate statement. If it were necessary, then there would be FAR MORE bladder infections than exist in the real world, no matter whether the woman is cis or transsexual...
I'm at fifteen years without a bladder infection and without the aid of cranberry juice...

Ditto if you just drink lots of water you can get rid of any UTI real fast.. thats what i do and it works
I rejoice in your good fortune! As a bio-bloke with a damaged urethra, I've been subject to a hell of a lot of UTIs over the years - and met with disbelief from health practitioners who think "that only happens to women". I found that drinking unsweetened cranberry juice concentrate made me drink a lot more water :). But the best way to avoid UTIs is to avoid sugar.
Time for SRS? Gets rid of that damage. Same here, ... messed up storm-water-pipe, um.

EWE! the taste, ewe! lol ;)
Years ago, around the time of my SRS, I remember meeting a Mexican post-op who used to douche herself with water diluted yoghurt because of 'the friendly bacteria', she worked in a pharmacy herself so she swore by it.
Her recipe sounded a bit too rich for my preference so I make my own white vinegar/water dilution, it neutralizes the 'inside' odour, its inexpensive and effective.
Hi, everyone! It's been a while for me since I was on Susan's. :(
I was looking for some info on vaginal health. I'm 9 months post-op now. My Thai doctor performed what he calls non-skin inversion with skin graft. In order to achieve 5.5 inches of depth, he had to harvest some skin from the groin area. :embarrassed:
I think I am healing well. My only concern at this point is some kind of discharge from the vagina. It's not nasty smelling, but since it comes from the inside, it does have a smell. I suspect it's from the skin inside, some kind of sloughing but a bit moist.
I tried not to douche for a a few days (I usually use diluted lactacyd). But there is this concern now. There isn't really any kind of funny discharge when I dilate.
Just wondering if this happens to the other ladies and if there are any home remedies, perhaps? Or should I just wait a few more months for it to stop?
Thank you!
Well. I can honestly say I've seen it all now. Lol
I've never tasted down there and I've always found the thought off-putting too. But vaginal health is an important aspect to feminine hygiene. I hope everything is okay for you. This is a pretty eye-opening thread for me to be honest.
I'm 6 years post-op and I must say that I like the way that mine smells and tastes. Yes there are times when I'm not so fresh down there but then that's just part of being a woman. I all so like the aroma when I've orgasmed, quite unique and tasty.

I also had the same type of graft. At nine months postop I would think the sloughing would have finished. Probably worth a visit to the doctor just to make sure everything is okay. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hi, Dinky_Di! Thanks for the advice.
Who was your doctor, may I ask?
This is probably a long shot (or just totally wrong,) but I do know that when I had been estrogen for awhile the odor of my body noticeably changed. I can't explain it but I smelled "sweeter." I also know that the estrogen dosage is decreased after SRS since your body is now producing minimal testosterone. Maybe too low on estrogen? Again, just thinking out loud...

Nine months post op... i think you need to see an ob/gyn, might be either a bacterial infection, or yeast infection. Could be harmless though some lubes change color and become solid like in there like replens for some women, either way after 9 months even with a graft its not really normal.
