Title: Seeing a girl in the mirror.
Post by: azSam on August 14, 2011, 10:29:15 AM
I no longer have to focus to see a girl in the mirror looking back at me. It comes naturally to me now. Even stepping out of the shower (if a certain area is covered or not visible), I see a girl there too.

I think it's more mental changes than physical changes. I don't think my looks have changed much, but my thinking has. Now I view my body as female.

And it feels.....

....

... Correct.

What a great feeling.

Hormones dont work that fast, but our imaginations do, to see effects really 3 months minimum and things start showing up, you will also need the spiro to do its work. Testosterone will still cause whatever changes estrogen brings to reverse if its high enough. Spiro will lower your T, once its low enough changes happen a lot smoother. Typically 3 months for noticeable changes.  Usually breast enlargement. You dont notice facial changes till you look at yourself after a year and go wow... i look different.

Im only on a low dose of hormomes for about 3 months and nowhere near fulltime, so there are no big physical changes yet except some muscle loss and softening of the hard lines....BUT:
-for the first time in my life i feel at peace with myself, at least for brief moments
-and people, especially young children notice th at something is different. The other day i was at the bookstore in my usual uniform (sneakers, jeans, black tshirt) and had a little girl watch me intently for minutes, as if she wasnt shure what to make of me...... And there is dozens of little incidents like that over  the last few weeks. Which makes me wonder: do i just start to notice those reactions, or do i give off different vibrations, and people pick up on that? It cant be looks,  i was pretty much androgynous all my life.
Samantha:how long did it take you to get there?

Congratulations, Samantha.  For years before HRT, I would catch occasional glimpses of a girl, but they were far and few between.  Two years into HRT, I can see her more often, even when not wearing a speck of makeup, no earrings, nothing.  It's a very comforting and natural feeling when it occurs, one I've waited for my entire life.  Keep enjoying it, the more you smile, the more others will see it too.  ;D

It didn't really hit me until a few weeks ago.  I just looked in the mirror and thought, "Holy crap, Maddie, that's awesome!"

It is a good feeling I have to admit.

Altho I don't really like what I see in the mirror, alot of times I just completely forget that I'm trans, or I had been a boy :)
