Hello everyone. My name is Wes. I will be 40 yrs old in a month and a half *Head desks* No, seriously, I am ok with that..I think...no...really..I am ok! Hehe..Ummm I have known I was transgendered since I was about 7 years old in one way or another. I didn't know what transgendered was back then of course but I knew I was more a boy than a girl. I have 2 children from my first marriage..why was I married and why did I have kids if I am a TG? Well, it's simple really..I wasn't 'out' at the time and that was what my friends and family suggested "That's what a nice young woman did", got married and had kids. I had told my husband before we were married but I guess he thought that it was a phase and when I told him 10 years later I wasn't happy with my body, it broke us up. After my divorce I went on T to start transitioning...but things went downhill again and I was placed in that..."You have kids and this isn't the time to be selfish" part of my life...so, I took myself off of T for my kids' sake (Which I regret now) and now that they are both grown and moved on, I find myself broke and unable to get back on T again just right now. I am seeking a job but it's been hard to do here in Chicago right now when you don't have a lot of skills, schooling or experience...But I am damned and determined. One day my life WILL be back on track..I hope. =) So..anyway..that's me..Nice to meet you all and look forward to getting to know some other people that are like myself and learn from you all or develop some friendships. =)
Hi Wes, welcome to Susans! Grab a chair and get comfortable. We always like company here. See you around, hugs, Tracey
Hi Wes and welcome. I hope that you do get back on T. I know how important this must be for you. Gennee
Welcome Wes! I'm a fellow Chicagoan. You may want to check Howard Brown for HRT. If you're financially unable to pay for hormones I think they have a program designed to help. Google "Howard Brown Health Center"
Thanks for the welcome =) And thank you Julie for the information. I read a bit on their website and it looks like they might be able to help me. I will be making an appointment with them today. Very grateful to you =)
Hey Wes -- welcome to the group! We have lots of similarities --- I turned 40 on Monday, the 15th --- and I live in the Twin Cities area. My kids are both in college now. I just came to terms with being trans --- so I am starting T once I get some medical conditions figured out. I have had my consulation for top surgery and that is scheduled for Dec. (yeah!) Surprisingly I am one of the few whose spouse has stayed with them -- it hasn't been without effort -- we have been in counseling for months!
Glad to see someone else my age around here
You're very lucky your spouse stayed with you. I think mine would have too but he was military so...we know how that goes. And thanks again for the welcome =)
