Title: First Laser Session
Post by: jessicas37 on August 17, 2011, 10:16:55 PM
Had my first (OMG it hurt) laser session on Tuesday. Directly after the treatment i had the usual red face with bumps and what seemed like an accelerated growth of facial hair. today is wednesday night and i am sure my 5 oclock shadow looked more like i hadnt shaved in a week. Is it possible for it to grow in thicker directly after laser? im paying $1300 for 5 sessions and dont want to waste my money if i should use elctrosys.i am already commited to 5 sessions but will stop after that if electrolosys is better.

I don't think it's possible for it to grow in THICKER, but that darkness you're seeing is perfectly normal and will go away.

Basically, the laser sent bolts of heat into your hair follicles to sever the capillaries and deprive the follicle of blood, essentially killing it (but not really killing it).  In the process, the hairs got burned and shriveled up below the surface of your skin.  That's what the bumps are: burned up blobs of hair.  But the blobs of hair are pretty dark because the tips are kind of curled up into a ball.

Before I was on HRT, it took about 3 days for the hair to grow out enough for the hairblobs to get shaved.  On HRT, it takes 7 to 10 days.  Probably some time between this coming Tuesday and Friday, the hairs will begin to shed and you'll see an amazing difference.  Until next time you get laser and start this process over again.  But take heart... after quite a few sessions, you'll have substantially less hair to shrivel up and it won't be so noticeable that you had laser at all.  Don't be discouraged if it takes more than five sessions either.  I'm going on 14 sessions and the more stubborn areas are finally showing marked improvement, to the point that I think I'll just do electrolysis on the few dark hairs that remain.
