Houston Rainbow Flavored Political Intrigue

One of the sad and infuriating patterns in the rainbow community is that when it comes to trans civil rights and potential groundbreaking advances in it, we have GL people in this community who can be bigger oppressors of transpeople than our religious right opponents.
In Houston while our TBLG community is a relatively unified one at the present time, it wasn't always so. Back in the 90's we transpeople fought a pitched, contentious decade long battle just to be included in the then named Houston Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus. Since then we have had transpeople serving on the Houston GLBT Caucus board and like Jenifer, even leading the organization.
More froth being spewed forth from someone that insists on making what seems to be EVERY issue that does not go the way she wants out to be the product of either race or 'trans-phobic' action. How about waking up and simply recognizing that occasionally there will be multiple candidates in a race that share some views...that one happens to be trans and another one gay is simply the reality of the world we live in.
It is no different than being conflicted in a primary where two friends are running for the same position (something I have seen on more than one occasion in Austin with various judicial campaigns).
One of these days, I keep hoping that the author of that blog will take off the blinders and see that there is more to life than race and trans-related issues...especially when it comes to a city that is having budgetary issues that mimic the State and nation.
That's Houston, always some intrigue...now if they would find a way to get us some rain, its more like Austin now...continual drought!
