Hey everybody. I tried to use the search function and went back 10 pages but could not manage to find the post about what to take with you on your trip for top surgery. I am trying to pack my suitcase and want to make sure I don't leave anything behind....or if I can do, maybe I can find this post on my phone once I land.
Anyway....if I am missing anything off this list, PLEASE let me know!!
1.) Button up shirts
2.) laxative
3.) flex straws
4.) small scissors for bandages?
5.) baby wipes or some sort of cleaning wipe since I can't take a shower...
6.) neck pillow
7.) Slip on Shoes
8.) Easy pull on pants/basketball shorts
9.) Under armor compression shorts
10.) pillow for after surgery
11.)
Thanks in advance if I miss a post. In 24 hours my computer is shut off and then I have to rely on my iPad and phone for keeping up. Keeping my fingers crossed and luckily Dr. Garramone's reputation has kept me from freaking totally so far. I have never had any major surgery, so day off I may be a wreck.
(Will edit this post if I can as additions are given to me)
neck pillow
easy to pull on pants
slip on shoes
Thanks Andy! I am taking a small selection of pants/shorts and will buy more when I am there. Since I am getting the lipo, I have no idea if I need bigger pants or if my current ones will work. That part has me worried because I don't want to send my g/f out looking for clothes really.
basketball shorts if you're getting the lipo
under armour compression shorts
take a pillow to surgery so you can put it between yourself and the seat belt on the way home
anti-nausea food like sourdough bread -- some need it
fyi I showered a couple days in, but only from the waist down
also fyi my lipo is really looking good after 2 months, but it took a good 4-6 weeks of wondering if there would be any results.
Dr. G's office is right by a huge mall so you can easily make a last minute shopping trip for anything they suggest for you -- grocery store and meds are right across the street
Thank you IowaBoy! I do have to ask though... what are compression shorts for? Should I get the size I wear now or go up/down a size? I have to ask since I have not seen that mentioned anywhere that I can recall.
You will need compression shorts to help the swelling on the lipo. They won't bandage it like they do your chest.
You want them tight so definitely not up a size. I went with my normal size and that was plenty tight, but I had a lot of swelling. If your normal size is good compression I would start there and maybe downsize a few weeks in or when your body is ready.
