Well I have been thinking of the future and what it would be like to take estrogen (a thought that makes me smile) and what changes it will have on me compared to what I have read. Now it will be some time (still taking baby steps) before I HRT but I wonder,
"has anyone been denied estrogen due to medicine being taken? Or has had to change medicine to take estrogen so there wouldn't be any problems?"
It's not a large concern really but one that is still in the back of my mind, because I currently take an anti-depressant that also boosts energy levels a smidgen. So does anyone have any thoughts or solid answers on this?
I'm not a Dr. but from what I understand, taking E along with antidepressants would not effect each other and should not be a problem :)
Thanks for the answer, I figured I just wasn't sure. Mainly because estrogen could cause mood swings and overall effect mood, so using it with something to supposed to stabilize mood and such could get messy or so I theorized :P
I beg to differ here.
Anti-depressants 'hog' estrogen receptors. Meaning you'd have to bump up E, get more mood swings, etc.
It seems to happen quite a lot. You will find out in time, - and then may remember this post.

Like I said, I'm not a Dr. It would be best to check with your Dr. to make sure... It may also depend on what med.s you are taking

Make sure you have a healthy liver. That is the area that will prevent you being put on HRT.

Isn't that dependent on how I take estrogen? But at any rate I won't have any trouble with that healthy as a horse ^^
Yes, there are situations where this happens.
I had to quit taking estrogens about ten years ago because of another medical condition. I actually went through menopause and it was quite horrible. I had night sweats for nearly two years.

Talk to a doctor, talk to a pharmacist. It's their job to know if medicines conflict and or contraindicate each other. Pharmacy ususally offer free medicine check service to talk about if one's mediciation is okay together.
My doctor told me this past Wednesday that she's never heard of antidepressants blocking the effects of HRT, but didn't deny that something strange happened to me when I was on Prozac last month. I have a superhero of a liver and her guess is that it got stimulated into overdrive by the antidepressants, hastening the process of cleaning my AA out of my system.

Very true, but getting them to spare me the time of day can be a hassle at times (not all just a fair few) to busy to give good actual responses....

That Is Interesting :o wouldn't have thought of that sort of thing happening. Though I am reassured a little by what your doctor said, so thanks for passing on that tidbit ^^

I hadn't thought of it either, but it made sense. My AA is a three-month shot, I started the Prozac about 3.5 weeks after the shot, and have had no signs of physical changes since the beginning of June (when my previous shot was ramping down). I should find out this week when the results of Wednesday's blood test come in.
One time, a doctor of mine called my liver a "rock god" and another doctor called it a "superhero." I have one of the strongest livers any doctor has ever seen, making me near-impossible to medicate.
ok the mostly likely only reason is a family history of breast cancer to not let you take them

They hog serotonin reuptake into the presynaptic cell, leaving more serotonin for the deprived synapses. I dunno how that would hog estrogen receptors, unless I'm a dork and don't realize they're the same thing.
