Title: Post 1 year follow-up exam with surgeon
Post by: Valeriedances on August 26, 2011, 03:06:39 PM
I met with Dr. Brassard this morning in Montreal for a wellness post-op follow-up exam. It has been 16 months since my surgery. I am, of course, completely healed at this stage of my SRS experience. Still, I had some questions and wanted an assessment from him of my result.

The visit was early in the morning. I arrived about 30 minutes early and waited in the waiting room, excited to be back in the place where my life had changed forever. There were other visitors before me and Dr. Brassard called in someone while I waited.

It wasnt long before it was my turn and Dr. Brassard came out and called my name. I sat at his desk and we reviewed my recovery, history and questions I had. Once done we went to the small exam room where he examined my breasts first. He said they turned out wonderfully and that the incision scar would continue to lighten up over time.

Then it came time to have my vaginal exam. This was my first one ever (I was nervous it would hurt). Luckily, it didnt. I will spare the graphic details, but he assessed my clitoris, labia, and the internals of my vagina and said I was very fortunate. I had a fantastic result, I would not need any revisions, not many girls get a result as good as mine. (he probably tells all the girls that). I was lucky and a good healer, that made me feel good, of course. He made some wow comments. I was very happy and reassured to see his reaction.

He said there is no physical reason I have been unable to have an orgasm other than libido. That is something I need to continue to work on myself. It was a relief to hear. We discussed libido, that it was possibly tied to hormones and that I may need an adjustment to my hormone prescriptions.

So thats how it went. I left reassured that everything is good and that I should have no concern for appearance with any partners.

I am happy. He is my hero.

"I am happy. He is my hero."

A wonderful ending to a tragedy and a wonderful new beginning.

Valerie,

I'm very happy and relieved to hear that you are all good.  I've been concerned about your quest and you now have one thing you can check off the list.

Life as a woman is good.

congratulations Valerie! I kinda had a feeling that is what he would tell you concerning the "O" thing.  Sometimes it's simply different after surgery and it takes a while to get in the groove of it, so to speak.  Anyway that's how it was for me- Ive grown to appreciate the post op orgasms much more than the pre-op type, and it's definitely more than just the difference that was wrought by hormones alone.  It's never, ever going to be the same again as it was before surgery, and I couldn't be happier about that.

I'm so happy everything is going good for you!

*hugs*
Chloe

Yay congratz! That's really great.

As for the orgasm thing, yeah it's interesting. I can get very close to one but not completely get there yet...and yet sex was still amazing.
