Title: BA - is it different for transexuals?
Post by: Joeyboo~ :3 on August 30, 2011, 07:12:11 PM
Who has had breast augmentation done?
If you have mind answering a few questions? :
How long were you on hormones for? (Is there a recommended time?)
How long has it been since you've have the surgery and have you had any complications?

I know it's a cosmetic surgery and not a necessity but honestly I have zero squat to look forward to in the chest department.
So I already know I'm gonna need a surgery there if I wanna feel "complete".

I have not had the surgery but i plan too sometime in the future. Best thing to do is wait for a year or two while on HRT and see where you get. Joey at your age i REALLY would not worry about such things yet, you have alot of time to let HRT do it's magic lol.

Ahh! you should update everyone on how it goes when it does happen. even if it might be a long time from now.

You are NOT an outsider! Many of the older members may be a bit jealous or envious that you are able to do this now at your age but I can't imagine that anyone here is ANYTHING but happy for you! We all started out at some point with barely a clue so just take your time and find "your" truth. My only concern if I were in your position would be any further masculinization.

I'm glad you made it to this site and it's a better place with you here so hopefully you will stay a while!

Hi Joey,
listen to the other Sisters and give yourself at least 2 years on HRT before thinking BA.

Also it's not for every one to be OK with implants either.
Breasts, even if small, mostly look and feel different. No scars no complications, no what ever issues.

I'm much, much older therefore be more challenged in this department yet will wait to see what will still happen after 1 1/2 years on HRT, now being a 38A.

The last thing you want is a second op for breast reduction at some stage! - if things turn out too well in the long run.

Furthermore, if you quite flat initially it is more difficult for BA surgery and you'd have to have sub-muscular and hardly more then a B cup. Very firm and wide spaced depending on your chest width. I know from a good t-girl friend.

ALSO, Jessica is SO right in pointing out that you have to stop/prevent any further masculinization by e.g. Anti Androgens (AA) as your first priority.

I'm known to have my opinions so forgive me saying --- nothing beats the real thing, at least initially until we get all droopy and saggy. Nothing for you to worry about for a long way to go :-)

And a big hug to our new spring bunny,
Axelle

I just had Breast Augmentation on July 7th, I've been on HRT a year. No complications besides what one would consider normal, the night after I was able to go out and while I wasn't dancing or anything I had fun.  Also while others may consider it Cosmetic and what not, it all comes down to your feelings.

Plus be sure to research your surgeon.

I wouldn't worry Joey, you are young enough for the HRT to do  much better job, and you still have a full head of hair.  >:(

My Gender therapist feels that the hairpiece I wear to cover the slight thinning on top is more effective in helping me pass than my bust.  That is changing slowly, but it will probably be a year or so before I can discard the Breast Forms.  I won't think about BA until that stage.

As for age I would guess most of us feel like we are 15 again anyway! :)

I have a (what I consider to be) healthy blend of feelings of envy and celebration for people transitioning young :). I made the choice not to do it when I was 23, because I had a whole lot of stuff to sort out first - and because it was the 80's, and much less acceptable back then, so fear was a huge factor for me. It makes me very happy that young people are able to make the choice to transition nowadays and get so much more support than was available back then.

Most people in the world don't get quite the body they were hoping for, gender-regardless. I hope you're able to enjoy the body yours becomes, and not devote too much angst to trying to make it look like someone else's.

Joey,
As one of the old broads I am totally envious of you and happy for you. may you have a wonderful life and develop as many of us wanted to but could not.  While I have many sisters I also take total delight in how my daughters on this site progress, and I have a lot of motherly love for you and them.

Oh my Goddess I'm crying; one of my little girls wants bigger boobs, but she is so pretty and gorgeous and.... (typical mum     ).

Best way of dealing with these matters is to talk it through with the professional counsellors and plastic surgeons. But as someone said, check out the plastic S rep, and ask to talk to previous customers, if you can.

Hugs

Cindy

I'll be letting them grow through college. It seems easier to cope that way. ;D

Hey. At almost 2 years of taking hormones, I had a 32A cup size. I wasn't pleased so I decided to get BA. This was back in 2007 and I was 21 at the time. It's been 4 years since the surgery and I've had no complications what-so-ever.

I'll lend you the magic boob fairy as I'm quite happy with the size mine are now and would actually like them to stop growing before it gets rediculous

Hi Joey,

I had mine in January after 2.5 years of HRT. There have been no complications other than some stretch marks (which are already starting to fade of their own accord) and I am happy with the result. No loss of sensation and they look good, made my life a lot easier in so many ways.

As others have said you still have hope to grow your own, but if you do need to do it eventually the only things that are different for transgirls are that sometimes we have so much less to work with that your options can be guided/limited by what you can achieve with implants and if you have a large frame that can influence the surgeons method of entry (e.g. with  mine, I'm pretty tall and wide and though I would have preferred to have the incision under the armpit it was so far to travel to the implant site it was impractical).

Who has had breast augmentation done? Response: Not yet, planning on it in April 2012 combine with my SRS or GRS

How long were you on hormones for? (Is there a recommended time?) Response:Will be 18 months on HRT at the time of surgery.

How long has it been since you've have the surgery and have you had any complications? Response: Planned complications will be guys staring at my boobs...arrh the power of cleavage!

I'm 35, 6'-1" athletic frame, growth has been just an "A" cup over a year.  While I'm planning to only go to a full B (maybe small C), it's the shape and positioning I really desire.   Sure I wear Fredericks of Hollywood Extreme Push-up bra in 38B, but half of the cup in padding.

Remember, it's your body, do what you want that will make you happy.
