Title: Doing happy dances around my flat today
Post by: Jayne on September 04, 2011, 07:45:23 AM
I had a day out in London yesterday & had a few drinks, then on the way back our minibus rear ended a car (no serious injuries, just aches & bruises all round). As I was a bit shaken by this I had a rather large dose of someones whisky & ended up even more drunk.
When I got home I fed my dog a went straight to bed.

This morning I noticed a large letter on top of my tv, the woman who came in to check on my dog whilst I was away had collected my mail & put it there for me.
I have now recieved confirmation of funding from my PCT, i've never been so happy.
Even though my shoulder hurts like hell at times I keep doing happy dances around my flat.

I hope that anyone else who is waiting for funding recieves it soon as it's a great feeling.
If anyone does get turned down then you may wish to consider moving to Bristol as I was advised by the GIC that my PCT almost always approves funding, they just take ages.

Best wishes & a really big hug to each & every one of you

I dont know what those acronyms are but congrats Jane  :icon_bunch:. Funding is wonderful news. Wish I had funding when I went through transition.

GIC is the Gender Identity Clinic

PCT is the Primary Care Trust who decide on funding, some PCT's are a nightmare for trying to get funding approved, in England we have whats refered to as the postcode lottery, depending what part of the country you're in can decide if you get funding for medical treatment.

There have been cases in the news of cancer patients being turned down for new life saving drugs because their PCT thinks the drugs are too expensive but someone a couple of miles away can get funding because they fall under a different PCT. . . . madness!
Some people end up moving to a different part of the UK when they need treatment as it's the only way to get the help for some people.

Great news. Dance the day away!
I experienced the post code lottery when on holiday over there 10 years ago, and one of the kids needed a Dr.  Totally stupid system.
Karen.

Padma, my shoulder feels fine today, i've been doing heavy lifting at work today & have only had a few twinges.

justmeinoz, it looks like i'm going to dance & sing the week away, i've had a hard day at work & normaly i'd be in a foul mood after a day like this but i've spent most of the day singing & doing silly dances  :eusa_dance:  :icon_dance: :icon_geekdance: :icon_lalala: :icon_rockon: I'm already driving my workmates up the wall with my happiness but they've all been really happy for me, it's just a shame my bosses are such  :icon_censored:

I'm really driving my workmates crazy now, everyone else is grumpy about the crappy job but I can't stop smiling & singing.

This morning I walked to work listening to Green Day & after 10 minutes of walking it hit me that I wasn't walking, I was skipping!!
I must have looked like a right wierdo to all the people driving past at 5:30 am but I don't care, i've never skipped along before & it was great fun to just let the happiness out of the box for the world to see.

Of all the things in this world that can be bottled up, I think happiness should never be one of them. :)  It should always flow freely and infect everyone it touches!

My job has destroyed my good mood today, when I left work today I was ready to go ballistic.

I've been wearing mascara & eye shadow to work for the last few months but after recieving the letter I went to work this week wearing lipstick & hooped earings, most people didn't bat an eyelid but my manager seems to have gone out of his way to make my life hard.
No matter what he does i'm not going to be beaten, when my union rep returns from his holiday i'm going to fight him on this, some people have said that this may make things worse but i've reached the point where i'm ready to quit at the first sign of another job, as far as i'm concerned i've got nothing to lose.

He's about to learn that even my patience has limits & once the limit is reached i'm a holy terror, i've only reached this limit once before & that manager ended up losing his job, watch out i'm on the warpath!!
