Hi everybody,
I'm 18, from the UK and currently looking to decide on my legal name and I'd really appreciate some help. I want something suiting me and my family, my brother is called Jonathon and my initials are EJG so I want a first name still beginning with E and a middle beginning with J..
I've always gone with Elliott, middle name James, but I'm now thinking what about Edward?
Whichever name I intend to shorten it to Eddie,
I'll post a picture of me if it's any help as to what you think suits my face,

Elliott or Edward?
:)
Thanks for any help in advance!
This may help, or not...
To me you look MUCH more like Elliot than Edward.
I have to agree with Colleen on this one. Your face just screams "Elliott" to me. ;D
And maybe it's just because "Edward James" reminds me too much of the actor Edward James Olmos? Even if it was "Eddie James" I'd mentally make the comparison.

Thank you both! I really appreciate it :)
Edward James Olmos looks slick but perhaps a little old for me :)
(any variation)
Eston, Ely, Elias, Ethan
Tried to stay off the beaten path a little.
I reckon Eddie,
You look blokey, I mean that as a positive, Ed and Eddie are good guy names. BTW you look great and congrats.
Cindy
Thanks Emma, I really like Eston, I'm just thinking I should go with something traditionally british because my parents are very much traditional english :)
And thanks Cindy, that's exactly why I like Eddie, I'm worried if I'm called Elliot people will call me Ellie and that defeats the purpose! Reckon being called Elliott and nicknamed Eddie is a little bit of a stretch though? I guess I could go Eli or something?
Thanks for all your help ladies :)
If you like Eddie, why don't just actually change it to Eddie? There's no rules saying Eddie can only be a shorten name and not the actual name. :)
I thought about that idea for a while but as awkward as it sees I really want to go with something I think my parents would have picked for me, I can't really ask them at the moment and I need to choose for Uni in a few weeks, I really like Eddie but I just don't think it's right for me to have it as my full name.. Very awkward I know :)
Just in case you haven't thought of it, there are other names that easily take Eddie as a diminutive:
Edwin
Edmund/Edmond
Edgar
Ed, uhhh, I ran out of readily accessible names, unless you want to name yourself after a cheese.
And variations on Edward--Edouard, Eduardo, Edgardo, Ed Cetera.
I was thinking that Edward Elliott James G... sounds damn good (depending on your last name), but that would mess with your initials. Or you could still use the same initials if you really want to, couldn't you? Hey, why not?
You do look like an Eddie, so that's a good choice. But I favor taking both Edward and Elliott. (If they were different names, you might be able to get away with hyphenating them, but I don't think that will fly here. Then again, what matters is what YOU like.)
P.S. I also thought you could do some kind of hybrid name, but it would sound too exotic (and thus call attention to you). Besides, my first thought was Eddiott, which is just plain silly. And wouldn't sound so hot if people didn't pronounce it just right. :P
Just playing around with ways to have both names and keep the initials without complications.
Elliott James-Edward G...
Edward James-Elliott G...
This puts me in mind of a Milne poem.
"James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree
Took great care of his mother,
Though he was only three..."
Don't mind me, I am in a very silly mood.
You look like an Eddie to me. A lot of people assume my "real name" is stephanie but it's actually stephe, pronounced -stefi-.
Perhaps Ely Jacob whatever your last name is.
Thank you all so much, I have now officially registered with uni as Elliot James Graves, and even come out to my parents, amazing!
Thanks for all your advice :)
Hope you're all well xxxxx
Congratulations, Elliot! That's HUGE, both the name and coming out to your parents. Bravo!
Congrats.
Dear Elliot,
Congratulations and I wish you and yours a very gorgeous life.
Cindy
Congrats! I like Elliott, and Eddie seems to suit you.
I like Edwin for some reason, Edwin Justin.
Sounds like I'm late to the party, but congrats on the registration and coming out. :)
