I've been on T for 6 months and I haven't grown any facial hair yet...
How long on T did it take for you guys to grow substantial facial hair? Does shaving more often make it grow faster or is that just a myth?
shaving does not make hair grow faster. it's a myth.
Yeah, it's a myth although the way it grows back in looks darker apparently.
I'm whatever my ticker says I think 8 1/2 months on T and while I have noticeable facial hair I still have to shave it because it is really patchy and just doesn't look right.
I shave once a month. People haven't noticed and I'm...sometime after 9 months. 9.5? I don't know. What shaving does: shaving makes the tip of the hair blunt while it's usually tapered, which can make it appear thicker.
it varies from person to person based on genetics. I started getting some facial hair around 2.5/3 months and I had a goatee by 9 or 10 months.
I'm also going to say that the hair on my head and the "carpet" are both very dark and thick hair...so facial hair should be dark for me. I would assume guys with naturally light hair and light skin probably won't have hair that's easily seen. See: Spencer Pratt's creepy flesh colored beard.
I started getting facial hair around 3 months, but I choose 4-6 months because that's when it started getting more noticeable. Working on my beard now at almost 21 months on T.
my brother and my grandpa have very full beards. as do all the men in my family. i'm sure i'll have no problem with facial hair once i'm on T. :) and i cant wait! i've been dreaming of the day i'd have facial hair all my life.
(the facial hair in my pic is fake)

It looks darker when it first grows back because the ends are blunt. After enough time on your face the ends of the hair are rubbed downs and softened so they look softer/lighter.

Not necessarily. I can't remember if it was here or another board I'm on but the color of hair on your head doesn't always determine what color your beard/eyebrows/body hair will be. It can vary.

can we see? :)
My father had thick black hair before he went white, and my brother has thick brown hair. Both have no trouble growing facial hair. So I have hope. Because I'm two and a half years on T, and I'm still working on getting good facial hair. But then, I'm blond, and my hair is fine. I mean, my hair has gotten darker and slightly coarser in the last couple of years (due to T? age? not sure), but I've had superfine blond hair all my life.
On the other hand, I got killer sideburns after only a few months.

Haha not here. I try to limit my photos online. Even (especially) facebook and other social networking sites. I've actually thought about posting pics but hiding my eyes, etc. but I'm too paranoid even for that. Too many creepers/haters out there.
Also, my head hair is dark blond/light brown and my facial hair is some sort of weird mixture of brown, blond, and red. It looks funny in sunlight.
That's cool. I'll be seeing you in a few months hopefully :)
I'm guessing and putting 13-18 months, because that sounds about right.
I had a chin patch before T.
Sideburns were filling in at 3 months, but selected 4-6 because that's when it all started looking even.
Mustache is taking longer...it's there, but the hairs started out light and are slowly getting darker.

It's taking me forever. Here's what I managed to grow last month at 1yr and 5m on T.
As you can see, the "sideburn" is absolutely ridiculous. I can grow more of a moustache than that though.
You got more sideburns in your 1y5m on T than I had in my 22 years on it.
I started getting hairs around 2-3 months, mustache hairs first, and now at 5 months I have noticeable chin hair, and under my chin has filled out a bit, but still not full enough for me to want to keep it. I have to shave every 3-4 days. I also started getting sideburn hairs about a month ago, but for some reason they're coming in on the left side quicker than on the right side.
I am not on T and I have to shave my mustache and beard about every other day .... it's thin and whispy so it's clearly female ... can't wait until T makes it thick and real looking
I started getting dark facial hair around 3 months but I put 7-9 months because that was when it was noticeable in pictures, to other people, and when I could actually sort of grow a chin strap.
Started on my neck at 3 months, then side burns at 6 months. By 8 months the sides started filling in. But I'd say just recently probably 1 year and 3 months maybe I got way more darker hairs on my chin instead of just having dark hairs sort of under it. If that makes sense. So now I can just have a goatee if I wanted.

I don't have much of anything on the front of my chin, either--it's mostly underneath. Until now, I haven't tried to grow it all out. But I finally caved in, and I've been growing it out for several weeks now, at least a month, I think. It is still kind of wispy, and it doesn't look that great, but I can't bring myself to shave it off.
I am powerless in the grip of the facial hair compulsion...
I had some minor facial hair when I started T and it became more male-looking/noticeable 2-3 months in. I'm 5.5 months on T now and this is how it looks. My dad's Greek and Italian so I imagine that's why it came in so quickly. Very grateful for those genes, lol.

You look awesome, esp. for only a few months. My ancestry is mostly Teutonic. But I keep thinking of the stereotype of bearded barbarians...maybe it took them a long time to grow those beards.
I've been on T for exactly a year (this month) and it hasn't really started growing.... so I can't vote. >:(
I am dutch so the hair that does grow is light blonde in color and not noticable unless in correct light.
Earlier I tried to post (Three times!) that I would post facial hair pictures because today after about 10 months on T I do have some facial hair that can be seen.
These are after maybe two weeks of no shaving...

It's not too visible.
I have maybe 10 hairs on my upper lip, they grow very long and dark very quickly. (and taste terrible when they get in my mouth) I lost my sideburns on T. I don't get that. No fur ever and not likely to show under my lower lip. I have a thin fur rug under my chin. I don't shave even if it does look weird. I figure I may just start a trend or something so that neck beards are the new "in" thing.
Oh,, about 2 years on T, almost.
For me it started fairly quickly, within a month or two. Unfortunately it came in blond or transparent.
After about 15 months it became more noticeable. I'm also growing a bit on my actual cheeks, but it's still so patchy that I shave it off.

Lookin' good, Squirrel. You remind me of Eric on NCIS LA.
I've been on T for 9 years and my hair is just starting to grow in.
