Title: How to bind... with a binder?
Post by: Wilhelm on September 15, 2011, 02:00:42 AM
Yeah, I know.. It sounds easy, you just put the binder on and well, there ya go! But it's not working. And it's really bothering me because I look in the mirror, and from my shoulders and up I pass. But then I see my chest (with the binder on) and it just looks FEMALE. :icon_sad: And seeing that with the rest of my body, I don't pass. And I don't know, does anyone have any tips on how to get it flatter? I have a tritop xs so I can't order a smaller one. And I heard about pushing your lumps to the sides but it doesn't work.

Also, if you put your binder in the washer does it shrink, could I possibly do that to make it smaller? Or would it become too small?

it does shrink it but there is always the risk that it will become to small. ive done it once before and it worked fairly well. if your situation is that bad i would try it.

When you're pushing them to the sides, push them down too.

I had a lot of chest dysphoria even with binding because I was unproportionally a D or bigger hahah. It sucks but I found that wearing a button up shirt really hid them well.

Yes, button up shirts, an extra layer (tanktop-something) and shirts with prints/stripes/sorts.

Also maybe a realistic view from a friend, we tend to feel too insecure about our chest and a lot of times it's actually not that bad. Especially us smaller guys (I wear a small, different brand, but still, small).

And if you wear tight fitting shirts, you can always try wearing a size bigger. (I don't know how tall you are, but most small sized male shirts are a bit baggyish for me already)

What I do is I put on my first compression vest then I fold my 2nd tank top compression shirt and put it on and the I put on my binder. It's gets me pretty flat. Do you have more than one compression vest/shirt?

I only have one.

If you can get another compression shirt/vest and a binder I think it would really help. Even if you don't a have binder and just get another compression shirt/vest I think it might help.

I actually wear two binders. Which is terrible I know. I should maybe try a compression shirt or something. Wear an undershirt or something too. That helps, like others have said.

Think of the binder as an undergarment. Do you look better when wearing a shirt over it? Because that's pretty much how you'll wear it, as an undergarment. I usually wear a t-shirt and a baggy hoodie, and my binder makes my chest pretty flat underneath it.

Well, for one, you could get a better chest binder.
I got two from lesloveboat.com bit pricey but soooo worth it.
They're the best ones I've come across.
The one I'm currently wearing is a small and has velco on the top part, so you can adjust it to how ever tight or loose you want it.

And it sounds stupid but you could always use some duct tape over the binder, starting around the nipple around and pulling it back, wherever there are lumps.

bad idea, that's dangerous. i'd suggest against it. go with the other suggestions before resorting to anything like that- wash it in hopes of shrinking it, try different ways of positioning your stuff under the binder, wear layers or different kinds of shirts, wear a compression shirt on top of the binder, get a different binder, etc. good luck, take care of your body and do smart things.

I got one from Underworks which worked pretty well, when i just had the binder on and no t-shirt my chest did still seem female and it didn't exactly look flat but soon as the t-shirt goes on it looks fine, dunno if that helped it probably didnt sorry xD.
Yeah like the other guys said wear a tank-top underneath a shirt, i find wearing a thick hoodie to help hide it is a good way too.

@x1x1
Yeah I know it's technically 'dangerous' but when put over fabric, I think it's fine really, as long as you're not using it around the whole chest.
Before I discovered binders, I used ace bandages and sports/duct tape. Now, I used it the wrong way by wrapping it around my whole chest but the other way would be a lot better and not at all painful.
