Title: Does anyone taking Biotin or Prenatal Multivitamins?
Post by: Lexy711 on September 20, 2011, 09:44:33 PM
Well many people, even pharmacist, recommended taking Biotin or Prenatal Multivitamins to help your hair grow faster and healthy

So I was wondering if anyone in here is currently taking them or have taken them before?

I know this stuff works for sure, it's just the matter of time, like hormones, you have to be very patient  ;)

I took something similar to that costed 5 dollars, and it made my nails and hair more shiny then usual and i noticed a slight increase in hair growth maybe an eight to a fourth an inch faster every few weeks.

Biotin has greatly helped my nails.  I am now 4 months post-op from hair transplants and I asked my doctor today at my follow-up appointment what he thought of taking Biotin for hair.   He said opinions vary greatly and he wasn't sold on it.  But at the same time it couldn't hurt.    I, for one, have seem my hair strengthened and doing better.  Of course I do take a good multivitamin as well.

I have been taking Biotin for about a month and I would swear my hair and nails are growing faster.

It has been known for some time that deficiency in B7 (biotin) can lead to hair loss and other, far worse conditions. So the argument is taking extra will increase hair growth etc. I'm not aware that there is a toxic level of B7, there are toxic levels for other vitamins. So you shouldn't have bad side effects.

But you can always take raw egg yolks, very high in biotin. But they have to be raw and avoid the egg white which contains avidin which has a very high avidity for biotin. Mmm maybe a pill is more pleasant.
