For years, when I got a cold it was something that i could easily cope with. I usually can get by pretty well throughout the day and just dealt with being mildly uncomfortable.
Now, I hadn't gotten sick in the last two years I have been on HRT for the exception of food poisoning. However, yesterday I started to develop the symptoms of a cold....and I can tell you the exact minute it started.....it came about that fast and that strong,
Today has been utter hell. I had two classes today. One was an hour and a half and the other was three hours. This cold is so intense I was falling asleep everywhere. In my chair, in the bathroom foyer, during lectures. Not to mention the extreme nasal congestion.
Now it may be just a coincidence that I have the worse cold of my life while on HRT but it sucks.
Been sucking down zinc and vitamin c. Be safe out there. A lot of people getting sick right nowl

You take care of yourself, hear? Can't have treasures like you going down. Rug up and drink up. Plenty of water now. Sorry if I sound like your Mum, but you girls are heading into this kind of weather. We are heading for the beach. Can't you take a couple of hours off, jump into bed with a warm lemon drink, you fav. music or book? You'll feel better after that. Promise!!

That's interesting because now that you mention it, I had the exact opposite effect when I went on testosterone: Colds were quite a bit milder and came much less frequently. (Indeed, about six months after I first got on T, I had a blood test for unrelated reasons and it turned out my white blood cell count shot up.)
So maybe it does have something to do with hormones.

Ugh, I have the nastiest cold right now also.
I don't know if HRT has anything to do with it but when i get a cold i'm like the biggest baby. I'll have someone like my roomate take care of me (chicken noodle soup, orange juice etc.) till i'm better. :embarrassed:
Knocks on wood... I have not had as much as a sniffle in over a year... which is about the same amount of time I've been on HRT. And I come in contact with the public on a daily basis. If anything, I'd say I've become more resistant to a lot of the common cold viruses, influenza etc. I guess it varies by individual?
