Title: when menses cease and then make a return..
Post by: ilovetodrinktea on October 07, 2011, 02:42:36 PM
Alright, I promise I used the search button. I've been on T for 11 months now, and menses ceased in August. I just got my "low dose" raised by my new doctor to the "going ratio," and now, suddenly, they have sadly returned. Surely this must've happened to someone else.

I don't know if it has much to do with a dosage increase but it happened to me once at 6 months and I've heard a few other guys mention it happening to them after being on T for a while. It could be that your dose is too high now and converting to estrogen slightly but if it's a one time occurrence it's probably just the parts annoyingly reminded you they are there still.

Whoa easy there bro!! But my experience wont be what you want! From what I know it isn't that common, clearly it happens so don't get me wrong but in my personal case, mine disappeared at one month on T and haven't seen it since and that was almost two years ago.. Every body is different though so clearly YMMV. Therefore no unfortunately, I have no advice for you. I can appreciate your frustrations but don't forget there are visitors in these forums too who can read posts etc...

I think Andrew's hit the nail on the head, might just be to do with the changes in dose and readjustments being made in your body etc. Have you had bloods done? Maybe contact the GP if you're worried. Could just be a really crappy unlucky once off sort of phenomenon in which case I wouldn't worry, but if it continues next month or worse then I would be going and asking my doc questions.. Loudly.. With a lot of enthusiasm.

Good luck mate, sorry I can't help.

I honestly think that's pretty rare when a steady dose is maintained.  I've met a lot of FTM's in person recently getting involved with activism, and the subject came up.  Of the guys who'd been on T for a year or more, no one had gotten anything more than a random spot or two, and the spotting was only one guy in his first year when they were adjusting his dose and injection frequency due to acne.  One guy had been a female bodybuilder pre-transition, and he said even a quarter of the standard dose is what he and other off-season bodybuilders needed to keep menses away long term.

From what I've seen mentioned on this forum over the past year or two of lurking, menses returning seems to be more common in those who had reproductive system issues pre-T like PCOS and Endometriosis.  I had ('have' I should say, I'm certain T didn't cure anything) both so I'm always nervous that it's going to come back at a really inconvenient time (as an aside; since I pass 100% of the time now, that would be anytime).  I'm already looking into FTM friendly gyno's to help me get this junk out covered by insurance though since it's all jacked up and diseased anyways.

Happened to me. Stopped initially at 3 months, returned once at 6 months, returned again at 11 months and the WORST part is it's lasted for TWO ->-bleeped-<-ING MONTHS STRAIGHT. Good lord..... Yes you read that ->-bleeped-<- right, it has not stopped since it started 2 months ago. I'm going ->-bleeped-<-ing anemic.

Also, a guy I know of has been on T at a pretty high dose for 3 years and still gets his occasionally. :/ It different for everyone I guess.

Oh man. Alright guys, thanks for your help. I just got blood done, and showed that my T levels were extremely low (about 42, heh) so I got the new dose. I'm hopin' this is just a one time thing. Endometriosis runs in my family though, that could possibly link to it. Thanks for all your words, and best of luck to the man who posted above me!

My sweeties T levels are always in the 600-800 range and this issue still comes up. Ze has been on T for about 18 months now.

I guess I'm an oddity; my red death stopped immediately upon my first dose of T (I had had it about 3 weeks prior, and it never came again), and didn't come back until 2 months after I was forced to go off T. It has ONLY returned when I've been off T for 2+ months, and I'm fairly certain I had PCOS prior to going on T. However, I did start on a full dose and have continued as such for 3 years--- maybe that makes the difference, I don't know. It's been almost 2 years now since I last had to deal with that nasty problem, and I'm overjoyed for it.

Ugh, that sounds horrible!  Have you gotten this checked out?  I've been on T for a little over 6 years and started bleeding 2 days ago.  I'm kinda freaking out since abnormal bleeding in a guy on T *may* be a cancer sign.  I highlight the *may* in that, but it is something I'm worried about.  How have things turned out for you?  When did the bleeding stop and what has it been like with doctors if you've gone to any for this?  Seriously worried here.
