I recently read the HRC Backstory article Responding to Dr. Keith Ablow's Anti-Transgender Rhetoric. The piece Allyson was a personal one, talking about her faith and her realization she was trans, and how she sought treatment to work out her process of coming out as trans.
I read one paragraph of her piece, and had a flashback of my own trans experience.

In 1978 at age 19, I was one of the participants in what was called the "Hermosa Beach Outreach Project"; the project was an evangelism outreach project of the first Hope Chapel, a Foursquare Church located in Hermosa Beach, California. From the church's website regarding their beliefs on evangelism:
