Title: Got my first appointment!
Post by: Lynn on October 14, 2011, 12:31:12 PM
The other day I had called in to a center that deals with sexuality and gender related issues (from my research by far the best in Belgium, and they lead you through literally every step (UZ Ghent for the ones interested)) and they said they had a waiting list but would get back to me ASAP.

Today they called me back and told me I have my first appointment on Jan 5th. I know it's still 3 months off, but I want to make sure I get someone that actually knows what I'm talking about, so I'd really rather wait the 3 months instead of finding some random therapist that doesn't know what he/she is talking about and wasting my money.

I have no idea what it will be like, but I just made the first practical step beyond research (and coming out). I'm pretty damn excited about that! :D

3 Months seems a little harsh. What is the general health care situation in Belgium? I was under the impression that they had national health care?

Are you getting nervous now that the day is so close?
If I had waited for so long, I would be freaking out about whether or not I would mess the entire thing up.
