Title: Country Music and Wide Eyes :D
Post by: Rabbit on October 23, 2011, 05:32:31 AM
Just pointing out some of the latest changes that I have noticed recently and wondering if anyone else has experienced them :D ((I'm at 7 months of hormones on the dot now))

First! I Have suddenly found myself enjoying country music.. Now, this might not sound very amazing, but last year I HATED country music (it was the only type of music that I couldn't stand). Since I am 28, I doubt this is simply my musical tastes naturally evolving as I get older (though, I guess there could be lots of possible reasons, just the timing seems a bit odd).

Second, I seem to open my eyes physically wider when sitting around. It isn't all the time (like when I am really tired), but generally I have noticed them open a lot more. I have no clue why this would be... but definitely different than before.

Just curious if anyone else has run into these things :) I find the little random changes from hormones really interesting.... I never thought that they would affect such a wide range of mental aspects (everyone only seems to chat about the emotional changes, but I am noticing way more than that).

I have found I no longer like country or rock music, which I loved before.  I've started listening to more pop music, which you'd NEVER catch me listening to pre-HRT.

Now, whether the hormones themselves are actually having an affect on this, is unknown to me; it may simply just be a subconscious self-initiated change due to feeling more "alive" and being open to more things that were once in our mind, at the time of being a guy, mentally forbidden.  But hey, who knows.

As for the eyes - maybe occasionally I'll catch myself looking momentarily with wider, more open eyes than usual, but I'm only at 3 months HRT so I haven't quite reached the point you're at.  Overall I'd say my eyes are still about the same.

Normally that is the first thing I would figure was affecting these things also. It would make sense that a lot of people are coming to terms with their "feminine sides" and opening up to things they wouldn't have before. Just, I tend to dismiss that as a large factor in myself since I have always expressed an extremely feminine side freely. ((For example, I really liked Sugar Sugar Rune Opening (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUJdPEUgA28#) and wasn't shy telling everyone about it haha... or the song Last Christmas- Ashley Tisdale [LYRICS ON SCREEN] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDOGwFRk4cc#) ... which is odd since I'm jewish :P I like what I like, I don't care if it is strange :D)).

I dunno, there was just something about the "twangy" aspect of country that always bugged me.

I have started to discover these new things pre-HRT already even. I used to just listen to Folk Metal and the likes, and then also video game music ... now I've become a fan of pop and country music.

There are several things I already did before that are extremely feminine though that I didn't care about people knowing ... for example I LOVE Glee and the majority of the movies/anime I watch are the sappy romance kind.

Awesome attitude to have!  All things, to someone, will be considered strange - so no worries ;)
