Hi! I just wanted to know what everyone thought was the best lube to use when dilating, I find some easier then others. Im just looking for some ideas. I tried searching for a thread like this but nothing came up. Thanks!
Ah, there have been some good discussions on this. I think some McGinn girls use mineral oil? Will have to ask them.
I used surgilube for the first year of dilation. I bought it by the case from AllegroMedical at AllegroMedical.com (http://www.allegromedical.com/catheters-c539/surgilube-lubricating-jelly-sterile-4-25-oz-flip-top-cap-p211184.html)
Now Im using whatever I find at the drug store. Mostly KY. I only dilate once a week so I dont use alot anymore.
I definitely dont use a liquid lubricant. It doesnt create enough of a buffer against the hard dilator. It hurts using those.
Here are a few threads that discuss lubricants.

thanks for the reply! I was using surgilube for the first 3 months post op and I was able to start with the largest dilator I was given, Then I tried another lube E-Z lube and it made dilation even easier. However Now that I spoiled myself the surgilube isnt as smooth to use and when I re-ordered E-Z lube it was a completely different product and based on reviews I have seen about it I think the first case I received was one of a kind LOL Im at 4 months now so I still have awhile to go before im down to dilating once a week. Need to find my perfect lube asap!
Thank you for the links!! Really appreciate it!
I agree. Theres no more important a mission for a post-op girl than finding the right lube, lol! funny, but true.
hugs,
Val

I just use good ole spit! nah, just kidding. KY is what I use
KY for me too,
tried vitamin E with Aloe, Johnson 'baby oil' and it works really fine but is very runny and can get messy.
Cleaning dilators is also not quite as easy due to the oil, instead of a water soluble lubricant.
Though I do think that baby oil will work out A LOT cheaper in the long run, as 2 – max. 3 drops suffice per dilator.

Get out of here! 2-3 drops??? lol, your funny or a masochist, hehe ...maybe if it was an organic one :P
If you saw how much I use on my dilators you would probably laugh your head off.
I am a Mcginn girl and i use to use mineral oil but it was to messy and I preferred the lube. Like you I only use the.#4 and I also like the liquid I use SILK- E WITH ALOE AND VITAMIN E VAGINAL MOISTURIZER.AND PERSONAL LUBRICANT ,just a few drops will due . I ordered by the case on amazon.com .

Hon, truth God it's what I use, really :-)
Putting more then 3 drops of baby oil, it be ALL OVER EVERTHING!
As for KY, it's thicker, so I use ~ 2 drops, spread it ever so thinly and in she goes, Täteretä!
Like the light cavalery... "Attacke zum Angriff ":-)
It may be, I'm sort of 'juicy' at the present time, and so need panty-liners all day, every day, 3 - 4 time a day to renew. Well, after every dilating, and then some.
Could that explain it?
I'd need "Oilzum" per gallon according to V Ms, suggestion otherwise, is how I'd see it, he he.

Lol Renate.
Sorry wrong stuff Renate!
this is TOP CYLINDER lube, we are looking for BOTTOM CYLINDER lube - best ever, mystery or not, yes?
Humphfft,
Axelle
PS: grumble, never get the right stuff, eh
Gasoline. Ha. J/K. I wonder how ID glide would do?
Glide (astroglide) doesnt work well for me. Too thin. It hurts an awful lot. For me there needs to be a buffer between the dilator which is a very hard ceramic and my delicate vagina.
Yes, it is very delicate and tender. I need to take good care with it and be gentle.
ID Glide is different from Astroglide. It comes in a blue bottle and it's pretty thick. It works great for penetration.
I'll have to look for that. Thanks Jen.
Thanks so much everyone for the replies! I will look into ID Glide aswell since I see you can get 70 ounces of it via amazon! I hope it works for me! I use an obscene amount of lubricant as well I go though about 4 ounces everyday and a half, But I also use 2 different dilators each session.
I use Slik stuff as it seems as slippery as KY but its in a pump dispenser so I don't mess about with tubes. Works out a lot cheaper than KY too as KY is now around $9 a tube. usual British rip-off.

Nope, I mean this one......

What is in the container could be the same product but the bottle that I purchase looks like ^^^^. I get them at Rite Aid and I've seen them in sex toy stores.
For dilating I use....
ORGANIC PRESSED COCONUT OIL
I can't sing its praises enough and so much cheaper than any chemical lube.

It's different for everyone.
First of all, if you're still using Surgilube, stop right now. That requires douching after, and that complicates everything and can lead to yeast infections. And THAT is not a subject you want to be researching. (I got some bad ones. Spending $40 for a single capsule to poke up your snooch, and then hoping for the best, is not any way to spend a week.)
I tried AstroGlide, but it made me itch. Something in it I'm allergic to, I believe. With a friend's guidance, I ended up with a water-based lube that worked better, but it didn't last long enough and I ended up having to reapply a lot. Nothing like repeatedly reaching for a plastic bottle to break the mood!
Ultimately for me, nothing has come close to Replens. It's expensive, but it has some nice advantages (in my mind, at least). It has the appearance and consistency of cum. It smells not unpleasant. It even has a slight taste of cum (a bit salty). You can use it on your stent or vibrator and it won't dissolve away right away. AND if you're the dry type and want to have sex with your guy, it's not going to get in the way with any weird taste or smell. You can pre-lube and have your evening of fun. It's marketed to cis women. Maybe there are generic alternatives now.
The best lubricant ever is the "Biogleide" from Joy division. Really I never used a lubricant so good like this one u will need only a little and nothing more. And the best part it is bio and natural.
I was started on the water based goop but at 3 months in I switched to pure silicone lube and I'll never go back... It's very slick and it's PH neutral and I don't worry about douching anymore... I like coconut oil too but its hard to use without making a mess of things...
I still use surgilube it works great, I've never had any problems but I wash down there well. I can't stand liquid lubes, they're too messy and the dilator ends up getting stuck inside me :'(. My gyno told me not to douche.
I use KY jelly, works fine for me and have no issues....
I buy it for under $5 a tube....each tube last a bit more than a month....
My approximate annual cost is ~$60

I use K-Y Jelly too since my surgery (almost 8 years) and it's perfect to me. Nice texture, without smell.
Many choices here, but I prefer KY Ultragel.

Why do you say Surgilube it requires douching afterwards? I've not heard that before and a lot of surgeons recommend it.
I use mostly Almond oil or vit-e oil. The first is one of the recommended by the AUMC, the second by dr Kanhai from MKV. With oil you do not need to douche afterwards.
I have always used "Wet Stuff" water based lubricant. I buy it in Australia.
Its come to the stage where I need to change, in other words to find something a little thicker.
Kind regards to everyone

I use SuriLube. My surgeon recommended E-Z lube, but I find SurgiLube to be more viscous. I douche once a week, mostly to keep the clitty litter away. ;)
Astroglide gel is great. Water based and inexpensive. I bought the liquid version by mistake once, not as good.
McKesson and I by the case on AMAZON.
I found when i had to dilate that the bath was the most relaxing place, i had coloplasty surgery and that tends to stay open, the only draw back is it over lubricates itself, that and an occasional bleed
