Post by: Mahsa Tezani on November 01, 2011, 03:50:22 AM

The tv was showing christmas commercials already. I think thats awesome, cuz I love Christmas.

What do you all think? Too early?

I don't think it's too early, but it is kind of early still. But I tend to leave my shopping until December 20th though so I may be the wrong person to ask  ;)

Nordstroms is making a big deal about not putting up the Xmas stuff 'till November 27th.  I'm good with that.  I saw my first Xmas bits this year in August.

I really love Christmas too, but I think its way too early. I'm just taking the Halloween decorations down ! Unfortunately it's all about the almighty buck!
Maybe it's my age but their is no anticipation any more. I remember when I was younger, you didn't see any Christmas displays, or merchandise until the day after Thanksgiving. The only ad you saw were the stores advertising the time they were going to open and display their Christmas windows, or waiting for the Wards, or Sears Christmas catalog to come in the mail, Now you start see Christmas merchandise, Lights etc in early October next to the Halloween stuff.
I just saw an ad that Marshall Fields..excuse me I mean MACY's at our Chicago downtown store is lighting it's tree on Nov 5th, and unveiling their windows all before we have our Thanksgiving Turkey ! by the time Christmas does roll around everyones had it and can't wait for it to be over !
To make up for all of this we have a tradition in our hose and hopefully build up the anticipation for my Grandkids, the same I did with my kids, is the day after Thanksgiving we all get together and go Downtown Chicago, see the windows at Macy's and then have lunch under the giant Christmas tree in the Walnut Room ( people from Chicago will know what I'm talking about) we then go home decorate our tree and the grandkids break out their Christmas lists and tell us which item the want most.

Anyway sorry it seem like I'm ranting but I like celebrating Halloween, than Thanksgiving, than Christmas.
not running them all together.
Hurray for Nordstroms !

Bah hum bug! :P  I like christmas, but every year it gets stocked on the shelves earlier and earlier for obvious commercialization purposes. Poor thanksgiving doesn't even stand a chance anymore. But then again it dosent create as much revenue for the product pushers. Even the Easter bunny bandit gets more recognition, and all the rabbit does is hide the eggs that were oviously stolen from some unsuspecting chicken. I know thanksgiving has the big day of parade. Just would like to see more of an effort from commerce to promote it a bit more. Then again maybe it's too difficult of a Holliday to make profits soar when there's so many turkey murders taking place during the festivities.

Merry Christmas Everyone. Too early? Lol

I can understand craft stores putting stuff out early, because projects take time.
Its way too early early otherwise. Thumbs up for Nordstroms.

I remember hating Christmas just last year ... but now I can't wait for it.

I've been in the Christmas mood for the past week or so and I'm so excited for it! I have no idea how or why though, I just am and it's lovely.
