Title: A question about Dysphoria..
Post by: kelly_aus on November 03, 2011, 04:21:02 AM
And my question is:

Am I the only one who doesn't suffer from it? I mean sure, I have crap days, but I never find myself emotionally crippled as many seem to..

Hi Kelly,

No you're not alone. Basically it's what they put in your water supply down there.  LOL In all seriousness, my belief is the industry that provides this description is the one that is at fault.

Dysphoria: "Abnormal depression AND discomfort" (Ref Wikidictionary) In all honesty, I've yet to meet a member of our community in that condition. Whats more, I'm confident if I should meet someone in that condition, it primarily due to some "ignorant industry professional" having brow beaten them into that submission. To which I had personal experience of back in the 70's.

If anything, I think the word dysphoria should be immediately replaced with a far better descriptive one, by way of "euphoric."  I think we are all more gender euphoric than anything else. What's everyone's consensus?

Euphoric: "Exaggerated feeling of well being OR elation." (Ref Wikidictionary)

I vote "Euphoric", in the meantime be safe, well and happy
Lotsa luv
Catherine
