Can all 17B estradiol pills be taken sublingually? I have been taking Estrofem sublingually and it's been doing really well. However when I filled my current prescription I got generic estradiol. I'm wondering if the new estradiol I got can be taken sublingually like Estrofem can?
short version: yes
less short version: depends on the make, some dissolve better then others
The manufacturer is Barr.. I'd tell u the identifier code but I'm afraid I'd be violating the "no dosage" clause lol!
It's a lil more chalky after dissolving than Estrofem was. IDK if that means anything. However I can (usually) keep all of it under my tongue until it is fully dissolved.
BTW I use "EstroPause" 1/3 less cost then EstroFem, and being Estradiol valerate.
Also a little more chalky but works just fine sublingual also.
So, my short version: Yes, it will work.

Yes... Barr is micronized Estradiol (same brand I take) and it can be taken sublingually (under-the-tongue).
Here's more info: http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=37695#nlm34089-3 (http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=37695#nlm34089-3)
As long as the Estradiol is "micronized" it can be taken sublingually... regardless of the brand.
BTW: Barr Labs was recently acquired by Teva Pharmaceuticals... your next refill may come in a different bottle.
Lovely, tyall for the answer!!
