Title: Magik: Does it really work ?
Post by: Anatta on November 07, 2011, 10:38:51 PM
Kia Ora,

::) I put this in the spiritual section [I'm not sure where it should go Pagan or Wicca]...

::) Anyway I'm just curious about "Magik" and how it works and has any member here used it to help them with transition [which HRT is a form of magic in itself ]

::) So cast your spells and tell me how it all works...Does it work ? Has it worked for you ? Or do you think it's just a load of 'mumbo jumbo'  empty rituals?

HRT working is a combination of how much your masculine features convert to femininity. It's more magician work honest.

Hormones aren't magic.

Yes, it can work under the proper conditions.  I've used some techniques to feminize my body.  Some of these techniques could be considered "magick"

However, I rarely update my blog anymore.  I'm working on so much other stuff than transition that I haven't really being doing much on my feminization project.  My body is still feminizing very slowly, but for various reasons I haven't been attempting any major workings lately.  To be honest, I have a lot of more important things to do.  As long as I don't have much dysphoria then I don't consider transition as important as, let's say, finding a job.  A broke magician is still broke.  We do live in a real world, after all.

Magic is the manifestation of will over element.

It works and works well for those who can use it.

Personally I only do rituals for others. I do not squander the gift on myself as a general rule. I have in some situations but it has always left a dirty feeling on my soul.

When I limit myself to focusing on others needs when I ritual, things work out well and the gods bless me in a multitude of mundane ways.

A friend of mine got me into making sigils because I see it as both a fun artistic exercise and a way to focus on what you really want.  If you consider the Universe as balanced, any attempt to change it would require something to occur to balance your change.  I end up typically thinking of it in a monkey's paw type scenario in which the thing you want is also the thing that will cause turmoil because of its existence.  My favorite sigils I've made so far are one that was created with "comfort" in mind and another that was "save Japan" (at the time of the tsunami).  I'm hoping they're both just vague and positive enough to make things a little better. :)

I was actually writing a comic for a little bit that was centered around a couple of girls in a Universe where some people realize they can really blatantly reshape reality according to their wills and it was kind of going to be about fairy tale magic in a realistic setting and how it's not even that things balance out, but that you don't understand the consequences of your actions in advance.  Anyway, then I saw Puella Magi Madoka Magica and it kind of blew away anything that could really be done with a magical story...

I'm not into new age spiritual stuff.

It's Kaballah or nothing for me.

Kia Ora,

::) It would seem some of you 'believe' magik really works...But how does it work ? Does it work against or with the natural laws of cause and effect ?

::) A sequence of events = in the natural world in order for "this" to happen "that" must happen and when "that" happens "this" happens and so on....

The questions you just asked cannot be answered. In answering how magik works it is no longer magik. IE: the Tao that can be known is not the eternal Tao.

The divine is around and in us all. We all use it.

Here are a few examples.

A trans person who passes because of their confidence - aren't they imposing the will on the world?

The changing of our bodies via HRT - we take it knowing it will change us.  So isn't our will using the essence of femininity inside the medicine to change our bodies?

Oh but that is a medicine it doesn't count?  Why not?  Sure we created medicine but did we not find something that had that essence and refine it for purity?

These work for everyone because we 'know' they work thus granting everyone the surety of will needed. Unfortunately that knowing hurts too.  We cannot use magik to change our bodies overnight because we 'know' it isn't possible. Without sure knowledge that you can apply your will it will not work.

Kia Ora Jeneva,

::) So there's is no 'known' magik to speak of ....Things just 'are' as they 'are' and what 'will' be 'will' be...

Just Go with the flow and do nothing "Wu Wei"

Well I'm not Taoist so in my mind if  you do nothing you get nothing.  "Wei Wu Wei" I can get behind more since it focuses more on 'do' vs 'work at doing'.  I only "borrowed" the Taoist quote because it said what I wanted to say.

I wouldn't say that things 'are' as they 'are', but rather things 'are' as you 'will' them to be.  The problem is that in today's society it is hard to truly break out of the "normal" mindset.  All of the "can't"s we are taught make us forget how to believe and dream so we accept that things are as everyone says they are.  And without focused 'will' you have no choice but to go with the flow.

Kia Ora Jeneva,

::) I might not believe in magik as such, but I do know about the magic of ones mind and use it everyday-and it hasn't failed me yet...
