i'm a heavy set guy that's been cursed with a large chest. just so you understand my chest size is 42DDD. i'm desperate to start binding and trying to pass! however, right now i'm not working and have no1 to buy me a binder. i've heard alot of bad things of using ace bandages. even so i tried out ace bandages last night. they barely flattened me at all and i could hardly breathe. so that isn't an option. is there any other do-it-yourself binding method or something i can buy that isn't obviously for binding? i've asked for neoprene(i think that's how it's spelled) sports bra but my mother knew what i wanted it for and refused to buy one. so something like that won't work for me. plz help! i'm desperate!!!!

My advice would be limited here - I'm lucky enough to have a small chest, and when I began binding (a good 4-5 years ago on and off..) I was using two crepe bandages but I was also heavy set around that time and I found that it could tend to look odd under my shirt unless I got it just right. I ended up being able to save and afford a chest binder from Underworks which I've been using since around 2008.
Have you tried layering your clothes? Trying out different mixes of layers can sometimes be effective for people - perhaps not to be COMPLETELY flat, but it does take quite some shape off when you find the right combination of clothes.
I'm sure you could find some alternative methods if you search some pages on google even, or perhaps another member of Susan's will be able to give some better advice. You mentioned you had some trouble breathing with ace bandages and that they didn't work very well - make sure if you try certain methods you may come across, that they are safe and will not harm your body.

Do you think you could get some money to get gift credit card from the store then buy a binder online?
I'm not sure how great this is, so I would definitely get a second opinion on whether this is safe or not, but I've used spanx. Its a bit expensive, but I had them and they were too small anyway. I bought the tights, any kind that is made to cover the stomach. Then I cut the legs off so it was just a tube. You have to be careful because I've noticed spanx sometimes doesn't stay on, and slides down.
What about a tummy trimmer for your chest? I used one a long time ago. It didn't last too long for me, but it's cheap.

I am sort of around your size. I use the underworks 997. The trial top from them doesn't cover me too well. I've used a back support/abdominal support (doesn't work too well).
Yeah... spanx or even use control top nylons, layered... cut the legs off, cut out the center patch to use as a hole for the neck. Nylons are cheap BTW
