An (American) friend of mine wondered how easy it would be to develop a British accent when moving to England. I said "Harder than what it takes for a female-to-male TS to change his voice but easier than a male-to-female changing hers" (since I have some knowledge on TS issues I used that analogy; notice I even used pronouns correctly). What do you think? Accurate or not comparison with regards to difficulty?
Not accurate at all.
You will get the accent simply by the way people learn speech, listening and imitating.
Voice changes for transsexual people are based on hormones or practice.
No difference,
You have to work at changing your speech patterns, which are the male/female patterns. Accents you pick up by being in the community. I have been in Australia for 37 yrs' I still get what part of the UK where you from?
I have a British accent.
I blame the hormones and the fact that I want to be Mudunna.
