Is there a thread somewhere around here that talks about which exercises are great for MTF transexuals?
Getting rid of a pot belly.
Keeping a small waistline
Building muscle in the butt and hips.
Anything?
You'd think it'd be important for everyone to know about it..
I'm surprised there isn't a sticky about this.
I get most of my exercises down on all fours or on my knees.
I do cardio on the treadmill, stretches, sit ups, and try to eat healthy.
Cardio dance works grrrrreat for me.
Hmm I guess I should first get a gym membership LUL.
I gotta get sexy fo' duh BF.

It don't matter. You can dance like Paris Hilton on crack. As long as you are burning calories.

Dancing all night is so much fun. I miss being able to do stuff like that.... Oh well, back to holding one person raves at casa de elle.
Do you have a treadmill?

Reminds me of something.
That sounds tiring though.
I honestly don't know why I'm not obese.
I'm so lazy.

Haha no.
I'm uneducated on fitness.
Cardio of any kind will definitely help and if you get a membership to a gym then try to focus on low weight and high repetitions when working out, this will generally produce lean muscle as opposed to building muscle.
This is gonna sound a little corny, but the P90X system is actually really good for getting fit and lean. In all the DVD's there is always a woman doing the same exercises, usually with less weight/resistance and higher reps. There's a great variety of workouts including some kick-ass cardio workouts that I got my son's cross-country team doing, and they brought home new trophies from the all-diocess championships for the first time this year! Resistance training actually can burn more calories than cardio and by building lean body mass you actually can increase your base metabolism so that you end up burning more calories just living than before. It requires a minimum of equipment and all together with the DVD's is probably less than a gym membership for a year.
Ask and you shall receive!

What I did was to hit the gym. Since I am full time, they gave me a workout for my legs and butt mostly. I'm doing cardio too!
The only problematic part is that I am a bit self counscious about wearing female clothes at the gym because it is easy to notice I have very lil hips and butt. Anyway, it has worked well so far.
Flirty Girl Fitness Abs & Booty part 1 of 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZuwpYs6pWE#)
try this. i just found it last night because i was doing denise austin rock aerobics, but it was starting to seem lame since it was one of her from 1980's with mall bangs and a red jumpsuit :-/ this one really hurt my thighs though, from the first time trying it.
Jogging and a proper diet seems to be working for meh. :D
I just dance like some spaz for however long until I get too tired and/or sweaty to keep going. It's fun and has been working like a charm for me.
I make sure my door is locked though, wouldn't want people coming in and calling a priest or something thinking I'm possessed.
I'll make this easy...
Run...
Then, run some more...
Keep running...
Did I mention running?
I suggest running. ;)
Aerobics, spinning, and yoga are also pretty good options as well.
I agree that it's all about the cardio. It's really the most important step in any attempt at feminizing. I have spent the last year feminizing my body and the results from all the running show quickly. Every day it has to be done. If you get it in every day you can afford some lapses in bad eating habits.
I don't go overboard on the weights. Two workouts a week. Chest day is pullovers & pullovers... with some light bench presses.
The second day is legs. Only doing extensions and leg curls. The running will take care of your legs and slim down the manly quads.
I never target workout abs, obliques, deltoids, shoulders, arms, or back. They'll get lean enough if you take care of the cardio.
And eating fruit has to become your new hobby.
Wow, I feel aches and pains just reading this.
I tried Pilates(Pallotti) once. The key words are 'once' and "tried". lol.
I had a video saved on youtube with feminization workouts, but it got deleted. Ohh well. It was mainly concentration on the abs and lower muscles.
BTW this is some good info for a thread, and the thread before that someone linked.
Ride a mountain bike everywhere you have to go, then sign a contract you can't afford to honor so the worry eats at you. Drink red bull like it's water...
The bike is good advice, pay no attention to my other insanity.

I read somewhere that women have the muscles at the back of their thighs more developed than guys, giving it a different shape. Is that BS?

Men and women have different bone structures, necessitating different musculature. It's not BS.
So, should we work our back thigh muscles more? Does HRT fixxorz it?

Well, I'm not sure. That's an experiment I'm conducting while in transition, to see how the body turns while working out and on E.
For sure, you can try a workout designed for women, but it will be difficult. I personally LOVE pilates (not necessarily gender specific), as it elongates the frame and tones you in a feminine way. It's just very hard.
For me its a case of the gym. Cross - trainer for 40 mins and the treadmill for running and walking another 20 mins and then the hardest part of all is the stair climber or stair master/step machine thingy. Increase the resistance on this one and do it for only 10 - 15 mins but you will sweat! However it will develop you thighs, butt an hips. Works for me. Give it a go.
i heard something about women having stronger inner thighs. i could believe that.
ok found this video in a group i belong to on yahoo. be warned tho its an extensive workout. havent tried it yet, but cuz im insanely lazy.

Actually, no it does not necessitate different musculature. Different muscles may get more or less developed, but women and men have the EXACT SAME muscles, in the same places (barring any anatomical anomalies of course, and except for the 4 or so muscles that are variably present in the population as a whole which are not gender specific.)
Got a patient now, but I would be happy to elaborate if necessary.
We were talking about muscle structure hon, no one was saying women have different muscles in their legs than men, only that the muscles themselves are different.
Lots and lots of running or anything cardio

Muscle structure? What do you mean by that and how is it sexually dimorphic? The only sexual dimorphism evident in the muscular system is size. By size I mean length and cross sectional area, with strength directly correlated to both. Other than that, there just isn't "different musculature" in men and women.
Skeletal dimensions and thus muscle length are partly affected by which hormones dominated during puberty and partly by heredity. Cross sectional area depends on muscle hypertrophy as a result of training. The relative ease with which one can stimulate muscle hypertrophy is dependent of the presence or absence of testosterone. Other than that, there is NO difference in male musculature compared to female musculature, structurally, anatomically, histologically or physiologically.
I study biology too. Unfortunately, for argumentative purposes , I am an English double major, and we're not making an important distinction in this discussion. Conext and audience being what they are, most people involved understood what was said when the term musculature was used. The terminology, to the degree you wish to delve, will only enhance the discussion if you want to be involved in a pervasive discussion revolving around kinesiology - and that might be where you want to take this. You are absolutely free to do so.
By the way : Mosby's medical dictionary, 8th ed. 2009 - Musculature : The arrangement and condition of the muscles (broad enough for its above usage).
I won't argue anymore semantics, I chose not to be a lawyer for a reason.

The answer to weight loss questions is always the same: burn more calories than take in. Eat healthy foods, eat often (never starve yourself) and exercise pretty much every day. But pick an exercise you like, not one somebody tells you is best. If you like bicycling, do that. If you like dancing, do that.
In spite of what you may hear, you can't really localize weight loss (or gain). You can build muscles, but "muscle in the butt and hips"? Women tend to have fat deposits in those areas. If you're trying to substitute muscle there for fat, I don't think that's going to work the same. HRT often helps people get fat there, but otherwise, I'd consider a little undie padding.

LOL Love your answer, on alll fours, but cardo is the answer, stay away from heavy weights low reps, I use light weights high reps for toning, diet and portion control
ah.... its a bit complicaited for me X.X rather disgusting in a way.. but i dont terribly hate it THAT much.
Before i found the real me, i had made a vow to joint he millitary, reserves. for school, though the true reasonw as because it was the "manliest" thing i could think of to prove to myself that thease thoughts and daydreams and fantasies of mine were wrong.
to that end i started working out with my freind, whom ive known forever, he used to babysit me when i was a kid. that is ex-army. wounded in iraq, but still healthy as a horse.
however most of thease workouts are weight training, muscle building things. and when i first accepted myself, it disgusted me to think i still had to do that.
but, im 19. i have a long life ahead of me and i still have to do it, for the fact that i prmised myself id be a walking contradiction, a body building nerd ^^
and im really not that worried, cause once i get that far, i know i wont have to work out with him anymore, and i can just do cardio on my own. and that hrt will reduce the ugly lumps that will be on my arms ^^
as it is im still a big person close to being average but still a fair belly and "man boobs" >.> so its not a imidaite concern.
so, for now im just trying to emphisize cardio more, a bit of a painw ith him. but we have been runing a lot more the past few days so its starting to work ^^ just wish i didnthave such a slow metablolizem it makes loosing wieght a pain in the ass. but im confidant i can do it ^^

Well, I guess everybody likes different things. You can check out a linebacker or a weightlifter to see how it look. It's interesting, but not very feminine to me.
