Almost every month since i started taking HRT (11 months) i get cravings for sweets. Is this a normal effect of HRT? does it vary or is it just me? does this ever happen to any of you guys maybe like me in a pattern or ever at all? thanks for your input. Id also like to add that i can get very emotional or grouchy too, basically mood swings. Anyway thanks

I've experienced the same stuff. My first 6 months I gained 25 lbs because of the sweet craving. So becareful. :) I still get the cravings now and then, but I got use to just saying no to them(Well most of them. lol.). Also with the mood swings. Yeah that is the hormones. lol. You'll have your ups and downs. I know when I get very frustrated or angry, I just want to cry now. haha . :)
But yeah it sounds normal.
Hugs :)
For me... yep. ;D
Yesterday I had:
2 Oatmeal Raisin cookies
2 Peanut Butter cookies
1 slice of Carrot Cake
1 Brownie
1 Cherry Danish
... and this was before I had dinner. So, a big YES for me. However, after about 1.5 years on HRT I've lost a bunch of weight... and just not muscle-mass either.
My cravings took a different direction when I started HRT. Since spiro is a diuretic and I was on another diuretic for blood pressure control, my blood sodium levels were further reduced. My cravings were for pickles and peppers. I was down to 147 pounds.
Once I had SRS and a husband, I was off the spiro and began cooking bigger meals. We both gained weight. At 167#, I decided I had to cut back and exercise.
We do eat less now. Well.... except for Thanksgiving and other big food times. Weight hovers around 150, but it's a struggle. He weighs less than I do. <sigh>

I am the opposite. Since beginning HRT, I have completely lost cravings for sweets.
