Title: weight loss for the transition
Post by: soulsteal on November 19, 2011, 10:26:41 PM
Okay, first i want to say that i completely love the community here, because you have gotten me through some very tough times!

secondly I would like to ask you girls a question, " How do you loose weight, as a man, to get to a good enough body to transition"

first of all, i have been doing lots of cardio and have lost 15 pounds doing so, however i am more worried with my eating habits. people are saying (those that don't know about me in that way yet) that i am eating too little. i eat about 1200 calories a day.

what do you girls think i would love to hear from you! thanks!

Yeah weight loss is different for everyone. I actually gained 25 lbs when I started HRT. Which that kind of snuck up on me. :o. Currently I am watching what I eat. Keeping my RDI limit good. I have a good app which is called Calorie Counter. This app has a good food database of calories for popular restaurants and other food products. I also cut back on my protein intake, not entirely; The protein cut seemed to help burn the muscles up when I work out. Cardio workouts are the best, you just have to becareful. Too little may build muscles, and too long may make you look anorexic. Another thing I take is Biotin for hair and nails. I also think biotin helps with the metabolism, so that is a good thing with weight loss.

Hugs :)

right now I'm concentrating on watching what I eat and light cardio since I have hips and knee issues. So unfortunately running is out for me. but for my speed walking I got some of those rocker heel shoes. so hopefully it'll be beneficial.

I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week, have a high protein diet, walk everywhere I can, never use lifts (elevators?). I'm 55kilos upper body muscle strength has dropped, as I use weights at the gym I have noticed my weight lift tolerance is dropping, and I love it . Some of the guys even take weights off machine for me as they are too heavy, love it again
My daily calorie intake is about 2000.  But I'm fortunate to be genetically slightly built, if I was a guy I would get sand kicked in my face.

I think you just have to keep at it . Biotin is also very high in egg whites, and in multi-vitamin tablets (Vit H)

Keep on going, you will get there you just need to keep motivated. Find a cute skirt or top you would really like and aim to wear it

Hugs

First off, what is your height and current weight?

1200 calories per day maybe just fine for you depending on your metabolism. When it comes to weight loss, there simply is no one size fits all plan. Cardio is great. Running, biking, swimming, and aerobics are all great for weight loss.
