Title: linguisticism is a word right?!
Post by: Jessica M on November 20, 2011, 04:30:18 PM
heya peoples,

First off I love almost every type of music (except country, it bugs me) but not every musician or song. any style can be done well but also really badly and as with everything most of the music available in any genre is crap. For every hendrix or gaga there are a million nicklebacks and X factor wannabes.

My main point is though, when it comes to pop and dance (which I prefer of the Euro variety) I generally prefer songs in languages other than english. Maybe because the lyrics in these genres are usually trite and formulaic and If i don't understand them I don't mind. I also like other genres in foreign languages but it's less of a thing to me, if that makes sense.

I was wondering does anyone else feel the same or even songs in other languages in any genre??

Oh, it's a word, but it takes a cunning linguist to use it. Hugs, Tracey

More seriously, I like listening to middle eastern languages when I need to calm down. Spanish when I'm excited and happy.

But I mostly stick to english.

of all the made up "isms" I think this is my favourite. (for petes sake Susan's comments spellcheck, that is how favourite is spelled, stop americanising me!!   :eusa_whistle: ).

I forgot to include some examples and (hopefully) embed a video.

Anything by: Rammstein (german), also the Tokio Hotel songs in German
                     maximum the hormone (Japanese)
                    T.a.T.U (the Russian versions)
Carlos Santana (Spanish) also a bunch of pop songs released in Spanish and English
Muse and Placebo have a few songs in French I like.

And here is  The Coronas (yes named after the beer) with "Heroes and Ghosts" in Irish (Taibhsi no Laoch)

We need an official program of study to certify that one is cunning and a linguist.  I'd certainly sign up for those classes.  Does my tongue piercing toward the tip count as extra credit for the classes?
