Sorry :(
But hey, that's their problem. Be yourself, nothing less.
Oh, Rebecca, try to hang in there if you can.
Actually, I will be going to a friends house for what she's calling a "Trans-giving" because about a third of the guests are trans. I'll be sending mucho bueno mojo your way.

This I am jealous of.
I wish my grandpa were alive, he was one of the only people in my family that didn't judge people. Hell he was even educated about transsexualism.
For all the whining I do about how depressed I am because of my divorce, I am very aware of just how lucky I am in other ways. Reading a post like the OP here is just heartbreaking to me. Why do people have to be so goddamned cruel to us? Why do people have to be so goddamned cruel in general?
For me, it has gotten better. And I fervently hope that it will get better for the likes of people like Rebecca and everyone else in similar situations.
Hang in there, my friends. There are good people out there.
Rebecca, I'll drink a toast to the memory of your grandfather and to your better fortune.

Don't go?
My family is the same towards trans people or anyone they deem as "different" so i know how you feel. Luckily for me my best friend/roommate's family invited me to their family thanksgiving dinner and they're Italian so yay @ my first Italian thanksgiving! :D
My mom's side of the family, where I spent my Thanksgivings growing up, are Italian. Those people know how to party! In the minds of the matriarchs, food = love!

Drinking is ok as long as it's in moderation! ;)

Be careful with that. Livers come one to a customer.

Yea definitely be careful with that, I used to use drinking as a defensive/distraction method but it only got me into more trouble. Holidays can be a really stressful time but you'll get through it! You should just bring a laptop and post all the ridiculous ->-bleeped-<- that those skanks say so we can all comment on them lol =P

I actually found it very helpful to post while I was at my in-laws last weekend. I'm fully out and in RLT but they refuse to acknowledge it. Posting as I got frustrated helped a bit.
Good luck, I know that will hurt but remember that it is only for a short while and then it is over and you can recover.

Two bottles a day is sufficient if your goal is suicide by alcohol-related problems (cancer, alcohol poisoning, etc). If your goal is transition, leave the stuff alone.
Please, Rebecca, avoid the alcohol. It will only cause more problems than it prevents or distracts you from.

Only you can make that decision for yourself. I cannot understand fully what you're going through, just as you cannot understand fully what I'm going through.
You're young, and I would counsel you to not cut your life so short. I won't say, "It Gets Better." But, I will say it COULD get better. For me, in some ways, it has gotten better. In other ways, it's gotten worse.
I mentioned in another thread how I'd been planning my "exit strategy" for this life, how I was planning to kill myself. I've decided NOT to go forward with the hope that it will get better, but rather to go forward with curiosity to see what will happen, for better or for worse.
I have nothing to offer you except for my support, if you'll have it.
