Title: One year on T
Post by: Nygeel on November 25, 2011, 01:54:01 AM
So, it seems as if a lot of people on here started T a month before I did. It's weird...most everybody in the US celebrated my one year on T day. There were parades, and people were having these feasts?! Alright, they probably weren't celebrating me being on T, but a guy can dream, right? I'm planning on editing together the pictures I have (I've taken a little over 100 pictures in about the same lighting at about the same angle since day 4) to make a video.

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tumblr.com%2Fphoto%2F1280%2F13291558163%2F1%2Ftumblr_lv7h2xX9LA1qal7xr&hash=bfe77608e87883012329acc589a992ed53dab539)

At my last appointment with my doctor it seemed as if I had my blood pressure under control. I don't know about my cholesterol yet but if that is also under control then I will probably be more comfortable with continuing T at my current dose. I was also given the option to start patches but unfortunately the affordable clinic ($12 for a month!) was out and wouldn't get them in time for my next dose.

Edit to add:

I did no shave November this month.
Chin and lip hair (http://api.ning.com/files/RAE6Scc8n92HPaKC4-dfhvnfMAnjNWq0K-p2Sfrk43Nbb-VNFzrcgYF1VTr6Uf4BdSSP*i5FV*n79LWWMtLZP8uC14I4X2A-/PICT0170.JPG?width=737&height=490)

Underside of my chin (http://api.ning.com/files/vGAp3yWinTOqh-zSs8IxGmMpkN6qGJNDVuDISDuWePF9v4cvwd20QyXo2BmGzsInCv0o9qQyOnhqUq9WdH7hwuSkLuvXdrEV/PICT0182.JPG?width=737&height=490)
This is after 24 days of not shaving.

Socially I'm still unfortunately stuck. As hard it is for me and others to believe I still am read as female somewhere between 90%-99% and is about the same as I was pre-T. (WHAT!?)

Wow, your facial hair is awesome XD
Hopefully one day, when you can have a full beard, then people sure can't confuse you for a girl.

SERIOUSLY!
The facial hair isn't visible in most pictures. The ones posted use the on camera flash. It's in the "only visible in a certain lighting" stage.

Your forehead/hairline sure made a HUGE difference in a year on T.

Since a lot of cis guys seem more feminine when overweight, and since losing weight is not an easy thing, the only thing I can think of that may help you out is a traditional male haircut, from a barber shop.  It might not be trendy or cool, but male haircuts (read: boring) might help.  Not a buzz cut or something that emphasizes head shape but maybe a side part or shorter on top?

Looking good though!

My hair doesn't part. Plus, I dig my pomp hair style. Losing weight isn't something I can do. I'm working on fixing my mind and working on my eating disorder (I eat 500-1,000 calories a day).

We share a t-day, and I was totally pretending that all of the food yesterday was for my one year, haha  ;D
Congrats!

I def agree with this as well. I see the difference in your face.

Congrats on one year!

Nygeel - this may sound creepy, and I hope it doesn't come off the wrong way, but I just wanted to let you know I really admire your attitude.  (I am NOT knocking anyone else) but I see a lot of guys complain like their world is over when they still arent passing 1-2 months on T. We all know you've struggled to pass, even a year on T but your posts are never Oh Woe is me pity-parties. You stand up for yourself and you don't change thing about yourself you like, even if it means you might pass a little more (ex. - the pomp, which is madd sweet btw). So yeah, hope it doesn't come off the wrong way, but I admire your perservance and your positive outlook.

I often do feel the need for a pity party and sometimes come across as angry when I'm frustrated with my social situation.

Does this post also imply you want to make sexy time?

Well, maybe I miss all those posts....haha....but for the most part, you seem to be a pretty emotionally strong guy.

I think most of us are pretty frustrated with our social situations.

Today, I went for massage (lower back issues) and the ONE time I pass where they use he, happens to be in a situation where the dude was going to see me half naked a few mins later, which then resulted in an very odd apology for calling me he. AWKWARD.

But, back to you...for good measure....we can throw you a pity party if you'd like??  :-\ ....maybe get some black balloons and some depressing music? It could be an excuse to have cake...yum yum yum.

I was about to say something very similar, but JesseO beat me to it :p
I think your strength and perseverence is something to be acknowledged and praised for. You seem to show resilience and you power through all the knocks you get. I think T has been working well on you, especially around the eyes for some reason. 100% male looking eye area! :p You are pretty much entitled to feel frustrated and angry with what must feel like the slowest progress.
I still do at times, but then I just have to remind myself of the things I am very grateful for, and how far I have come, and continue to look to the future and what it could bring.
Just think of 2 years on T, when there'll be bigger parades and feasts :p and how much more you will pass and smoother life will be :D
Also, congrats on the facial hair growth. Definitely got more sideburn action than me.
And I think your nose has gotten more masculine looking...

Congrats on 1 year on T.  I can see in the second pic you definitely look more masculine.  You look great! :)

Congrats, Nygeel! You look really great.

I have to say, seeing you post pictures throughout your year on T, I didn't see too many changes (I hope that doesn't sound rude or something), but seeing those pictures side by side really puts it into perspective.  :)
You have made quite a change, and you're looking really great. No idea how people still mistake you as female.

There definitely have been changes in the shape of your face. Are you going to continue with the T (if I remember right, you were having some health issues and considering stopping it, right?) or just kind of play it by ear?

I did manage to get my blood pressure lowered (pretty dramatically) between the beginning of October and late November. If my cholesterol has improved a lot come my next visit then I'll stay on, but might change to patches.

Congratulations Nygeel. The difference in your hairline is especially awesome. I'm a fan of your hairstyle.
