Title: would waiting another year untill 17 for therapy be good?
Post by: mellissa on November 26, 2011, 04:53:23 AM
Should I start therapy now or can I wait one more year to start? Is it better to start now if so how? And would it make a difference to wait a year ?

The sooner you start, the better your situation will be.  It requires a certain amount of counseling to receive hormone replacement therapy, and another amount to qualify for surgery.  Waiting another year only delays both of those.  If you're already strongly feeling transgendered or transsexual, my advice is to start counseling now.

I had to wait until 17 to start transition.  It's better to start earlier, but there won't be any negative effects of male puberty if you wait a little longer.  It is a good idea to start therapy ASAP though.
