If the life and times of Sonia Masi is anything to go by, it is evident that Imran Ajmeri would have rechristened himself to emerge as Sonia De, one day. And that day came in 2003, when she officially became a eunuch. This marked a beginning of her rise as a leader of the community. Her strong hold over several areas of Ahmedabad was an open secret. A large chunk of the money collected by eunuchs under Sonia's territory went to her, making her one of the richest in the community.

However after becoming a eunuch, Sonia became not only a renowned figure in the city, but the nation as well after she contested in Lok Sabha elections against LK Advani. She also stood for assembly polls from Shahpur constituency.
