Title: Name and gender change in the state of Florida.
Post by: Darrin Scott on November 27, 2011, 02:32:26 PM
Hello all,

I plan on changing my name and gender marker here in Florida in the early part of 2012. I heard it's upward $500 for the change. What do I need to do to go about this process? Anyone know?

its super easy, just a little on the expensive side I think.
1. print out the name change petition and fill it out
2. get it notarized
3. take it to the clerk of court/family law and pay the fee
4. make sure you have fdle (federal department of law enforcement) clearance aka having finger printing done (around $50)
5. Go to your assigned court date and answer the few questions the judge asks

Done

Texas wouldnt change my gender marker on my ID without proof of surgery how is it done here in Florida? Do i just go to the DMV and show them proof of my name change??
