With your math I'm....uhhhh...

Wait. Did you mean to add 5 or. 5?

I did my math wrong?
5 that's what the video said to do. I'm pretty sure it didn't say .5. And you added 4 if the under bust was even.

Now I gotta re watch it.

Ok I re watched it and it wasn't .5

According to your original math I used to be:

Under=35 in
Biggest=38 in

35+0.5=35.5
38-35.5=2.5

So I guess I'd be a B/C?  But that's not right..Especially not if it's add "5" rather than "0.5".  I don't think I could have a negative size (before surgery).  What video did you use?

Hmm...that's still really weird.

Anyway, if you add 5 (for an odd number) to your 37.5 and then subtract 45.5-42.5, you would be a "C".

I think 38 is my band size. You find your cup size by finding the difference between your under bust and the biggest part.
45.5 - 37.5 = 8

Under is 35, widest bit is 43. I'd be a 40 H?

According to Kohls.

This is really interesting, but I'm still confused.  Please bear with me because I've always wanted to know this mathematically.

So if your (Sharky) under number is 37.5, then you would add 5 to get your band size of 42.5.  Take that number and subtract it from your biggest number of 45.5.  That would be a difference of 3; 3=C.

Is that incorrect?

ETA:  Because I really don't understand how my numbers work here.  My "under bust" measurement is 35.  The biggest was 38 (maybe 39, no more than 40).  35+5 (for an odd number)=40.  38-40=-2.  That's certainly not right.  Even if it were 40-40=0, it still wouldn't be right. :(

I don't think you use your band size to find the cup size.

Here's another video. This women didn't add anything to the overweight girls measurements. So maybe if you're over weight you aren't supposed to add anything? I'm overweight and confused.

38-35= 3
That makes you a 40 C.

Rewatched the first video and it definitely says to subtract the band size from the biggest measurement.

The second video was helpful with the 38-35=C.  That is probably closer.  Thanks, Sharky!

I wonder if that's anywhere near correct.

This is why I stopped trying to figure out my size, haha. Everything I did (even the online ones where you just plug stuff in) gave me weird measurements. I always ended up with a negative number or a ridiculously small size like an AA (which I'm definitely not). Blegh, how confusing.  :P

I didn't use your band size, so I guess that's wrong.

I watched a couple more videos and they say to do the same. Some say to measure while wearing a bra. Now if you are wearing the wrong bra size then wouldn't this throw your measurements off?

LOL I'm determined to figure it out.

I always found the best fit was simply to take several bras in different sizes into the fitting room and try them on to see which one actual fits the best, measurements only give you an approximate size.

This thread is proof that  no matter what it is, guys will always find something to measure and compare.  I do have to say though, that I am very confused by this whole thread.  Did I miss a something about dressing up as dragqueens?  because thats the only reason I can think of for figuring out my bra size.

// the last time I actually wore a non-sports bra it was a 34B, and that was about 5 years ago.

There are sports bras that are fitted based on band and cup size. Finding your size can also help with finding a binder. A guy that's a 32A can't really give me binding advice that would work for me while a guy who is maybe a 40 F might. I could also maybe see pictures of the binder to get an idea of what my chest will look like.

There's also the idea of taking measurements and knowing your size so you know how much your chest shrunk on T.

Also my chest has changed a lot just from binding. It's helpful to track that. And when I swim I still wear a women's swimsuit along with men's trunks, so I use these figures for that as well as for binding and sports bra strategizing.

This is my motivation as well.  I know what I was pre-binding/pre-T, but because I almost never wore a bra/sports bra I don't know what my chest size was prior to surgery.  To see how much my chest changed could be helpful for others wondering the same thing.
