We have seen and heard about Culperina, Miriam, and few some certain transgender reality shows (Transgeneration comes to mind)...
What about YOU?
I got contacted by someone from National Geopgraphic Society who saw my YouTube video and asked if I would consider being in one since they wanted to do a documentary on transgender people. I know that is not the same thing as a reality show, but ...
It got me to thinking , would I enjoy being in a reality show that centered around me (like Kim Karshadian)? O0 only if I had a big ass like her! lol
Masha, if you are reading this, I bet you would love to star in one yourself! :D
I'd be happy to accept an offer to be on one.
B/F prolly wouldn't let me though lol.
I'd make a pretty boring star. But I suppose I would agree... I think I'd help shed a positive light on the T community.
Nope nope nopes, can't say that I would. ;)
Doubtful.
Absolutely not.
It doesn't seem like a lot of good comes of "reality" shows nowadays. I wouldn't do it.
No thanks !
I wouldn't mind being on one... I like to think I would help break the idea that trans people are some walking stereotype of poorly dressed or abnormal people.
I am strongly against trying to "force" transition. I don't do things until they work on ME... regardless of how much I want to. I guess that would be boring for viewers though... they wouldn't get to point and laugh at how I look (like they might do at the way trans people are typically shown).
I would. I'd most likely be very uninteresting but I'd try showing us in a different perspective - that we even if we're transgendered, we're still human beings and deserve to be treated with respect.
I suppose if there was any profit in it, I'd use it to support my and others' transitions.
Kia Ora,
::) There have been numerous shows on trans issues, some highlighting the plight whilst others purely self interest...
::) However I do believe one would have to be a tad narcissistic[for some full blown narcissism] to appear on such shows...But that's just my humble opinion...
::) And once you're 'out'[ had your 15 minutes of fame] there's no going back...
Metta Zenda :)
I prefer to be more stealth like; however I would do it based on a few factors.
To begin, words I do not feel are applicable to me would not be used. Secondly, I would have to consider the source and setup; will it show me as someone just trying to fit in as a female in society, or will I be typecast as a freak? Finally, because of my choice to be stealth, and therefore most importantly, would something be covered for me and/or financial compensation, Oprah style? For example, a famous SRS surgeon could be featured by the show, and the show, in compensation, would fund my SRS; this particular example was shown on the Tyra show with Isis King and Marci Bowers.
Because of the considerations from various angles affecting my decision, I feel my answer would not be as black and white as a yes or a no.
I've had a life story feature in a national mag and then got a call from a paper to do a topless photoshoot which was interesting fun so I'm quite happy about publicity but a 'transgender show' would have all sorts of TGS and just confuse the great unwashed public and make them think why waste money on SRS when lots of those TGS are quite happy to keep their penises so I wouldn't do a TG prog.
Probably not. Not interested in having people focus on me being TS.
Hell no. The only way I'd even remotely consider it is if they paid for everything period. Nothing out of my own pocket! Then I'd do it otherwise hell no.
I would never want to be on a reality show of ANY kind. Sometimes you have those rare few that start out ok, but even those always end up degrading into some sensation crap.
A documentary or something similar on the other hand though, I definitely wouldn't mind doing that.
Not at all, well unless they gave me like 10 million dollars, but that would never happen. I had a friend who was on a short lived reality series and they made him look really bad in it through editing and he said the reality was him doing the same thing over and over until the director "captured his moment".
If I thought it would be done in such a way as to be positive education, I'd do it.
However, given my opinions, I'm likely not the type of person they'd ask.
Z
Nooooo im a private person. I dont want people poking their noses into my life.
Be a "freak show" for the "normals?" I don't so.
Besides, I'm too mundane and sane for that sort of thing:-)
Reality show? no.
National Geographic wants to do a docu about transgendered people and their experiences? I'd offer my take on the situation but I would not want to be filmed and used as part of the TV spot or had my identity disclosed by anything other then "user name LivingInGrey at Susans.org".
Reality show? No, I'm not that interesting anyways. Documentary... maybe. It depends on if all the other people are completely passable, including their voices. But if the time actually came for me to do it, I probably wouldn't in the end.
Seeing as I already rehearsed for RuPaul's Drag Race 2013. I was one of the few MtFs who rehearsed.
No.

I m shocked! I would have thought you were the perfect candidate for a transgender reality show from what I ve seen of you so far. lol
Yes, yes yes and YES. Though, I don't think I'd be willing to accept such an offer just right now, considering I'm still fresh at a new jooooob, I still lack a lot of essential skilllllls, I'm not even really part tiiiiiime. So perhaps when I've pulled myself together a bit more, that's not to say I'm a shy person, I just want to be able to fully let go and be me without tripping over thinking too hard.

well you seem to like to stir the pot up around here, lol. That is one quality that reality show stars need - to be able to produce drama on demand. After all, the fans love it when they see the participants fight or have drama.

Damn. It's off to Hippy Hill.
Who has watched "There is something about Miriam"? It is so sad how they exploited Miriam as a sensation and that she would allow herself to be a party to such degradation publicly.
