So the other day I got my ears pierced (yay! :D) and now I'm looking to get a haircut. These are all baby steps for now, but I've gotta start somewhere, right?
So anyway. I need a hairstyle, and I'm a bit lost as to what I could do that works with my face and hairline and whatnot.
Here's a photo of my face right now, I took a neutral face photo as that's probably how I look most of the time.

Here's another photo with the best fake smile I could possibly conjure up. I look ridiculous but that's ok, if you laugh Santa will put you on the naughty list anyway.

And last, here's an old photo showing what my hairline is like (I'm guessing this is important too)

Wow I looked angry back then o.o
So, it'd be awesome if you ladies could give me some advice here! :)
Thank you.
Full bangs (https://www.google.com/search?q=Full+bangs&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=zBg&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvnsfd&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=r7zaTrUaz5-xAt6rlYsG&ved=0CCAQsAQ&biw=1600&bih=1061) will look good on you.
I can't really see the actual length of your hair since its behind you, but I would say get something medium length.
That will frame your face nicely. :)
Oh RIGHT! I was getting a bit frustrated at the forums going down each time I tried to do anything, so I kind of posted it in a hurry and I forgot to include my current hair length. Woops!
It currently reaches about halfway to my back. :)
I do like the look of full bangs though. It has this Asian vibe to it, which I love :P
I agree with Joey on the bangs, but also get it cut in layers and don't tuck your hair behind your ears!

I'm not good in the hair advice department. lol. But I do want to congratulates on getting your ears pierced. :eusa_clap:
I have a similar problem too with not knowing what to do with my hair. I'm just wearing a hat till my hair grows in a little longer. However, like JoeyD's and JennyCop's reply, bangs are good.
Teddy Bear Hug :)
Bangs are a MUST for you. You need a different color too. I'd go a lighter, more uniform blonde.
Get it cut to about chin level and point cutted on the bottom. Google images "medium length point cut" and you will probably see what i'm talking about.
I'd also straighten it out all the way. If you do, make sure you get some thermal protection, because your hair looks a little brittle.
Oh, and as was mentioned before... don't tuck it behind your ears. It's not flattering for you!! Well, if you have to, just tuck one side behind your ear
Yeah I don't normally have it behind my ears, don't worry about that one :P
I wanted to show my newly pierced ears to a friend as well, so that's why I did that.
The overall opinion seems to be bangs, so I'm going to be looking into that.
I have been looking dye my hair, but I'm not sure if I want to go lighter because then I have to bleach it, and whenever it grows out a bit I have to bleach and dye those bits again because it's really obvious ... and I don't think I wanna do that to my hair as it's in bad enough shape as it is. Ideally I'd just dye it strawberry blonde or something, but eh.
Even though it might not look like it, that actually is my natural hair color on those photos. I know it's crazy and has a lot of color variation lol
But bangs are a good starting point either way, I'll spend today looking at tons of photos and then maybe I'll post back and see if my choices don't completely suck :P
I can always get it cut like I want it and then later on dye it if I feel the need to. :)
bangs will help disguise the male bits until hormones and diet reshape things.
shorter cut to about jaw length will help passability more than the big hair look that naturally attract guy's eyes.
definitely go blonder or redder as very few GGs have the mousey colour.
If your hair is naturally blonde, why would you have to bleach it to get it colored a more uniformish blonde? There's products you can use that can put color in your hair thats 5 levels higher than your color, that's not bleach. For example, I have auburn streaks (Level 5) in my naturally jet black hair (level 1) and I didn't need to bleach. I'd say coloring your hair to something more uniform and solid is more a priority than getting it cut, personally.

My hair's not blonde though, that's the issue. It's actually red with a blonde streak at the front of my hair.
I don't know why it's like that, but it always has been ... if I dye it it'll either be a darker more uniform red or just plain brown. I just can't decide yet what I want so that's why I'm looking at hairstyles first ... I can then do some photoshop magic with the hairstyle to try out different colors. :)
Red would bring your eye color out more... I'd go with a firey red
So I've taken the suggestions and browsed around for hairstyle for a couple of hours, and I like this one the best roughly based on your suggestions:
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com%2F_Hd72ghJFG30%2FTMBaygHAtAI%2FAAAAAAAABBY%2F3MwRtgfTVCo%2Fs1600%2Fjes.jpg&hash=344343ed42367a9b65f5aafc0b587de35da537bf)
Do you think I could pull it off?
I like the color, and the point cutting, but I wouldn't have that much volume for you, and I would have it a bit shorter too.. but you def get the concept :)
Alright thanks for the advice so far everyone! :)
I'm going to dye my hair tomorrow (as the store's not open today so I can't get the products needed) and then probably get a haircut somewhere in the next couple of weeks.
I won't be having it as puffy as on that photo, but I am looking at the same length. reason being that if I end up not liking the length I can still get something shorter afterwards ... but if I start out with something short it gets a lot more complicated if I want something longer instead :P
I'm not sure where I'm getting it cut yet, I've always just had the occasional trim up to now that was just done by some place down the street ... but I don't trust them to do my hair properly as they seem to often have trainees and stuff. So I'm looking for someone to do it ... will definitely ask for suggestions though. I just didn't want to go there without even a basic idea of what I want. :)
As for the color, I'm going to dye it tomorrow! :)
My mom's going to do it for me, as that's cheaper than having it done anyway (she has dyed mine and my sister's hair in the past, so I know she won't mess up). Will be in a shade of red similar to the photo I linked last.
Lynn, I love your long, pretty hair. I'm jealous... in a good way, of course ;)
Congrats Lynn,
I fretted for ages about getting my ears pierced. I now have two in each ear, and wear hoops and studs even if I have to go in boy mode. No one has ever said anything negative.
The red colour looks awesome. If you are able get your eyebrows thinned and shaped as well. I get mine done professionally about every 6 weeks and they are now under control and follow the eye contour which looks quite good to me.
Give your Mum a hug, she is a special lady and lucky to have a special daughter.
Cindy
So I've dyed my hair today!
Sorry for the kind of weird angle, but I had a lot of issues getting the lighting right. This one is the only one where you can really see the color well.

Will likely get it cute by next Wednesday (depending on when I can get an appointment)
nice head of hair!
I like it! It looks great! I can't wait to see it cut/styled!
Nice colour Lynn and a nice length as well
Cindy
I've got an appointment for tomorrow already! :D
I'm so excited, will post a photo when I get back! :)
Ok, good luck! I'll be anxiously waiting for the results!
I knew that would look good on you :)
Go with what I suggested, I promise you'll love it!!
I am now officially in the awkward phase! :D
I had the excellent idea to get a haircut first, and then go shopping for a bit to have my first "test" in dealing with people as openly trans. At first people were looking at me all funny and staring, and I felt a bit insecure. But then I was like "you know what? I have a better haircut than all of you!" and walked proudly through the city and smiled at people that looked at me and stuff. Suddenly, a hell of a lot less staring!
Anyway, I didn't get the point cut as suggested earlier. I just did it even for now (with layers though) because I can easily go from this to a point cut if I didn't like the result, but the other way around would've been much harder. Good thing I decided to do so because I LOVE the result!

^me starting to fail at boymode, not quite succeeding at girlmode yet, but it's a start! :D
I love it! You look great! I hope you feel as great as you look! I did the same thing you did when I cut my hair, took it out for a test run. Its funny how if you are confident you get less stares, I noticed that too on my adventure. We all start somewhere, we can be awkward stage together!
now try a v neck tee or sweater to add length under your face and expose some skin like most girls. every little change helps you along.

I can't do that yet because I have acne all over my chest. I'm really hoping HRT will fix that little problem ... for now I have to cover my body up very well, only my lower arms and lower legs can be exposed. Everything else is hideous.
OIC. Acne may disappear as your transition worries decrease.
Oh wow, that looks great on you :)
She layered it pretty well! I'd texturize the bottom of it just a hair.. but it looks wonderful the way it is :) Not what I had in mind exactly but it does look good !!
Thanks! :)
It turned out a bit different that what I had in mind too, but I do still love it :D
